耶和华使祂的子民生养众多，比他们的仇敌还要强盛。

我们知道，上帝使万事互相效力，使那些爱上帝，就是上帝按自己的旨意呼召的人得益处。

因为彼得和约翰宣讲借着耶稣死人可以复活，他们非常恼怒，下令拘捕二人，因天色已晚，就把他们扣押了一夜。但有许多听道的人信了，男人的数目约有五千人。

对他的百姓说：“你们看，以色列人比我们多，又比我们强。

因为主管教祂所爱的人，责罚祂收纳的儿子。”你们要忍受管教，上帝对待你们如同对待自己的儿子。哪有儿子不受父亲管教的呢？做子女的都会受管教，如果没人管教你们，那你们就是私生子，不是儿子。再者，我们的生身父亲管教我们，我们尚且敬重他们，何况是万灵之父上帝管教我们，我们岂不更要顺服祂并得到生命吗？我们的生身父亲是按自己以为好的标准暂时管教我们，但上帝是为了我们的益处而管教我们，使我们可以在祂的圣洁上有份。被管教的滋味绝不好受，当时都很痛苦，但事后那些受过管教的人会收获公义和平安的果子。

“我们不是严禁你们奉耶稣的名去教导百姓吗？你们竟然在耶路撒冷各处传道，还想把杀那人的血债归到我们身上！”彼得和其他使徒申辩说：“我们要服从的是上帝，而非人。你们钉死在十字架上的耶稣，我们祖先的上帝已经使祂复活了。上帝把祂提升到自己的右边，立祂为君王和救主，好赐给以色列人悔改的机会，使他们的罪得到赦免。我们就是这些事的见证人，上帝赐给顺服祂之人的圣灵也同样做见证。”他们听了，怒气冲天，打算杀掉使徒。

法利赛人彼此议论说：“我们真是枉费心思！你看，整个世界都跟着祂跑了。”

任何智慧、悟性和谋略，都不能对抗耶和华。

愤恨害死愚昧人，嫉妒杀死无知者。

暴怒固然残酷，愤恨好比狂澜，然而嫉妒更是无人能敌。
