Mordecai told the Jews to celebrate the time when they got rest from their enemies. That was the month when their sadness was turned into joy. It was when their weeping turned into a day for celebrating. He wrote the letters to celebrate those days as times of joy. He wanted the people to enjoy good food. He told them to give presents of food to one another. He also wanted them to give gifts to people who were poor.

因此，住在乡村的犹太人都以亚达月十四日为设宴欢庆的节日，并互赠礼物。

他们只要求我们照顾那些贫困的人，这正是我一向热衷的事。

我实实在在地告诉你们，你们将痛哭、哀号，世人却要欢喜；你们将忧愁，然而你们的忧愁将变为喜乐。妇人分娩时都会痛苦不已，但孩子生下来后，她就会因为这世界添了一个新生命而充满欢乐，忘掉了生产的痛苦。同样，现在你们有忧愁，但到我再见你们的时候，你们的心必欢喜，而且这份喜乐是谁也夺不去的。

只要你们发自内心地去施舍，一切对你们都是洁净的。

一月十三日，王的书记被召来，他们以亚哈随鲁王的名义，照哈曼的吩咐，用各省的文字和各族的语言写谕旨，用王的戒指盖印，送交各总督、各省省长和各族首领。谕旨由信差送到王的各省，限令在一天之内，即十二月，也就是亚达月十三日，把犹太人的男女老少全部铲除、杀光、灭尽，并夺取他们的财物。

信徒聚在一起，共用所有的东西。他们把田产家业变卖了，按照各人的需要把钱分给大家。他们天天同心合意地聚集在圣殿里敬拜上帝，又在各人家中掰饼聚会，以欢喜、慷慨的心分享食物，

我的心啊，要称颂耶和华，不要忘记祂的一切恩惠。

摩西对百姓说：“你们要记住离开埃及的这一天，因为耶和华用大能的手把你们从受奴役的地方解救出来。不可吃带酵的食物。你们是在亚笔月的这一天从埃及出来的，将来耶和华带领你们进入迦南以后，你们每逢此月都要为祂守节期。那里现在住着迦南人、赫人、亚摩利人、希未人和耶布斯人。耶和华已经向你们祖先起誓，应许赐给你们那奶蜜之乡。在节期的七天之内，你们只可以吃无酵饼，到了第七天，你们要为耶和华守节期。七天之内要吃无酵饼，你们境内不得有酵或是带酵的东西。那时，要告诉你们的子孙，‘这节期是纪念我们离开埃及时耶和华为我们所做的一切。’

哀痛的人有福了，因为他们必得安慰。

尼希米又说：“你们去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，并分些给一无所有的人，因为今天是我们主的圣日。不要悲伤，因为从耶和华而来的喜乐就是你们的力量。”利未人使全体民众安静，说：“请安静，因为今天是圣日。不要悲伤。”于是，全体民众去吃喝，并分给他人，非常欢喜，因为他们明白了教导给他们的话。

到那日，你们必歌唱：“耶和华啊，我要赞美你！你虽然曾向我发怒，但你的怒气已经止息，你还安慰了我。“看啊，上帝是我的拯救，我要倚靠祂，不会惧怕。耶和华上帝是我的力量，是我的诗歌，祂成了我的拯救者。”
