谕旨上说，王准许各城的犹太人在十二月，即亚达月十三日，聚集起来自卫，铲除、杀光、灭尽各族各省攻击他们的仇敌及其儿女、妻子，夺取仇敌的财物。

我要终日向人述说你的公义，因为那些想害我的人已经蒙羞受辱。

愿我的仇敌在羞辱中灭亡，愿那些害我的人抱愧蒙羞。

列国啊，你们必被打垮、击溃！远方的人啊，你们要听！整装备战吧，但你们必被击垮！整装备战吧，但你们必被击垮！

他们就出发了，上帝使恐惧笼罩周围的城邑，没有人敢追赶他们。

这十人是犹太人的仇敌哈曼的儿子、哈米大他的孙子。但犹太人没有动他们的财物。

“我知道耶和华已经把这地方赐给你们，我们十分害怕。这里所有的居民都吓得胆战心惊。

原来耶和华使他们心里刚硬，跟以色列人作战，好让他们遭受无情的毁灭，正如耶和华对摩西的吩咐。

你所到之处，我必使那里的人惶恐不安，使你一切的仇敌都在你面前转身逃跑。

亚达月十四日，书珊城的犹太人再次聚集起来，在城中杀了三百人，但没有动他们的财物。王其他各省的犹太人也都聚集起来自卫，得以脱离仇敌。他们杀了七万五千个仇敌，但没有动他们的财物。这事发生在亚达月十三日。十四日，犹太人休息，并以此日为设宴欢庆的日子。但书珊城的犹太人在十三、十四日聚集杀敌，十五日才休息，并以此日为设宴欢庆的日子。

希实本王西宏却拒绝我们的请求，因为我们的上帝耶和华使他顽固不化，好让我们击败他，正如今日的情形。
