That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.

That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther everything Haman had owned. Haman had been the enemy of the Jews. Esther had told the king that Mordecai was her cousin. So Mordecai came to see the king.

On that day King Ahasuerus gave to Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told what he was to her.

That same day King Ahasuerus awarded Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. Mordecai entered the king’s presence because Esther had revealed her relationship to Mordecai.

This man had a very beautiful and lovely young cousin, Hadassah, who was also called Esther. When her father and mother died, Mordecai adopted her into his family and raised her as his own daughter.

Esther was the daughter of Abihail, who was Mordecai’s uncle.( Mordecai had adopted his younger cousin Esther.) When it was Esther’s turn to go to the king, she accepted the advice of Hegai, the eunuch in charge of the harem. She asked for nothing except what he suggested, and she was admired by everyone who saw her.

We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it.

Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth passes to the godly.

“ Evil people may have piles of money and may store away mounds of clothing.But the righteous will wear that clothing, and the innocent will divide that money.

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

Esther replied,“ This wicked Haman is our adversary and our enemy.” Haman grew pale with fright before the king and queen.

They trust in their wealth and boast of great riches.Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God.Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay enoughto live forever and never see the grave.Those who are wise must finally die, just like the foolish and senseless, leaving all their wealth behind.The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves,but their fame will not last. They will die, just like animals.This is the fate of fools, though they are remembered as being wise. Interlude

The names of these men were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan— seven nobles of Persia and Media. They met with the king regularly and held the highest positions in the empire.

I came to hate all my hard work here on earth, for I must leave to others everything I have earned.And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!
