Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews— young and old, women and children— on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.

They were carried by messengers. They were sent to all the king’s territories. The orders commanded people to destroy, kill and wipe out all the Jews. That included young people and old people alike. It included women and children. All the Jews were supposed to be killed on a single day. That day was the 13th day of the 12th month. It was the month of Adar. The orders also commanded people to take everything that belonged to the Jews.

Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with instruction to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all Jews, young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.

現在你要去攻打亞瑪力人，徹底毀滅他們所有的一切，不可憐惜他們。無論男女、孩童，或吃奶的嬰兒，牛羊、駱駝、驢子，都要殺死。’”

末底改奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫了諭旨，又用王的戒指蓋上印；文書由驛使騎上御養的、為國事而用的快馬，傳送到各處去。文書上寫著：王准許在各城的猶大人，可以聚集起來，保護自己的性命；也可以毀滅、殺盡和滅絕那些敵對猶大人的各族和各省的勢力，包括婦孺，並且可以掠奪他們的財產；一日之間，在十二月，就是亞達月，十三日，在亞哈隨魯王的各省，開始實行。諭旨的抄本作為御令，頒發到各省，宣告各族，使猶大人準備那日，好在仇敵身上施行報復。於是，騎上為國事而用的快馬的驛使，迫於王命，就急急忙忙出發，諭旨傳遍書珊城。

因為對不行憐憫的人，審判他們的時候就沒有憐憫；憐憫勝過審判。

我的日子過得比信差還快，飛快逝去，不見福樂。

驛卒一個接一個跑來，報信的也相繼而至，向巴比倫王報告，他的京城已經完全被攻取了。

又用刀擊殺了祭司城挪伯，無論男女，孩童或吃奶的嬰兒，牛驢或羊，都用刀殺盡。

為了殺人流血，他們的腳步飛快，

因為我和我的族人被人出賣，快要毀滅，被殺盡、滅絕了。我們若是只被賣為奴婢，我也必閉口不言，但王的損失是敵人不能補償的。”

我要差派他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國，吩咐他去攻擊我惱怒的子民，擄去掠物，搶奪擄物，把他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。
