For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

緣此、我為縲絏中之使者、俾得侃侃而言、如所當言、○

是以我為基督使、雖繫鐵索、得侃侃言、如所當言、

我為此福音為使者、而陷於縲絏之中、當求主使我得毅然而傳、如所當言、

蓋我已為福音之故而成為被鍊加鎖之星使。果能不為威武所屈、侃侃而談、庶幾不辱使命、是所至願也。

for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Because of the good news, I am being held by chains as the Lord’s messenger. So pray that I will be bold as I preach the good news. That’s what I should do.

I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech[ you] by us: we pray[ you] in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other[ places];And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

What I tell you in darkness,[ that] speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear,[ that] preach ye upon the housetops.And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David[ rather] sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle,[ even] to their buttocks, and sent them away.When they told[ it] unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and[ then] return.And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador[ is] health.

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I[ am] a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.Be not afraid of their faces: for I[ am] with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

For[ they are] impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear,( for they[ are] a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns[ be] with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they[ be] a rebellious house.And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they[ are] most rebellious.

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded[ him] to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

According to my earnest expectation and[ my] hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but[ that] with all boldness, as always,[ so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether[ it be] by life, or by death.

And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer,[ even] unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Then Peter and the[ other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort[ you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
