He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)

The one who came down is the same one who went up. He went up higher than all the heavens. He did it in order to fill all creation.

Therefore, it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these.For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands( only a model of the true one) but into heaven itself, so that he might now appear in the presence of God for us.

Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.

After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,

He exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens—far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church,which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

and so that Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praise to your name.Again it says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people!And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; let all the peoples praise him!And again, Isaiah says, The root of Jesse will appear, the one who rises to rule the Gentiles; the Gentiles will hope in him.Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

And we ourselves proclaim to you the good news of the promise that was made to our ancestors.God has fulfilled this for us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second Psalm: You are my Son; today I have become your Father.

Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace from his fullness,

Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept silent for long agesbut now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God to advance the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles—

They said,“ Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.”

So they said to one another,“ Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it, to see who gets it.” This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled that says: They divided my clothes among themselves, and they cast lots for my clothing. This is what the soldiers did.

In this way God fulfilled what he had predicted through all the prophets— that his Messiah would suffer.

Now the main point of what is being said is this: We have this kind of high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

And most certainly, the mystery of godliness is great: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

He told them,“ These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.

For these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: Not one of his bones will be broken.

and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

After this, when Jesus knew that everything was now finished that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said,“ I’m thirsty.”

As it also says in Hosea, I will call Not My People, My People, and she who is Unloved, Beloved.And it will be in the place where they were told, you are not my people, there they will be called sons of the living God.But Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, Though the number of Israelites is like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved;since the Lord will execute his sentence completely and decisively on the earth.And just as Isaiah predicted: If the Lord of Hosts had not left us offspring, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.What should we say then? Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained righteousness— namely the righteousness that comes from faith.
