萬民所遭、初無或異、義不義、潔不潔、祭不祭、善不善、妄誓不妄誓者、億兆亦同此賦畀。

All share a common destiny— the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them.

Everyone will die someday. Death comes to godly and sinful people alike. It comes to good and bad people alike. It comes to“ clean” and“ unclean” people alike. Those who offer sacrifices and those who don’t offer them also die. A good person dies, and so does a sinner. Those who make promises die. So do those who are afraid to make them.

It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.

The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don’t.

當斯時也、義與不義之人、爾得詳辨之、事上帝與不事上帝者、爾得區別之。

智者明目、愚人行暗、及其終也、何異之有。竊思愚者死、智者亦死、雖智何益、豈非虛哉。智愚既同歸於死、而後世忘其名、天下事皆作如是觀。

以我觀之、善惡同歸於盡。

萬有之主耶和華曰、我必涖臨、降災於爾、凡巫覡行淫之子、妄誓之輩、奪傭人之值、虐遇孤寡、使賓旅不得伸其枉屈、而不敬畏我者、必速降以罰。

我觀惡人、反居顯要、不禁生艷羨之心兮、

二人曰、爾既用絳索以縋我、必以此索、仍繫於牖、集爾父母兄弟戚屬、至於斯室、厥後我儕至斯土、則爾使我所發之誓、我必恪守。

自義在所必戒、妄為尤所當絕、惟上帝是畏、患難可避。

作惡之人、屢蹈罪愆、反享遐齡、然吾知寅畏上帝者、終必受厥綏祉、惡人不畏上帝、斷難邀福、厥日無幾、如影靡定。天下事可為長太息者、有時義人遭難、幾同惡人、惡人蒙休、有類義人、我則曰、此屬於虛。

上帝所悅者、賜以智慧歡樂、若惡人則勞苦之、以其所積貨財、賜於善良、凡百之事、無非捕風捉影、以此益見矣。

詣筵宴之家、不如入哭泣之室、在彼見人之終、生者當深思焉。

天使曰、此咒詛之詞、遍行天下、凡盜竊者、必殲滅於左、凡妄誓者、必殲滅於右、俱循此言。萬有之主耶和華曰、我出此卷、使入盜竊者之宅、又入指我名而妄誓者之宅、恆居其中、燬其木石、

為惡之人、得保生命、而享遐齡、席豐履厚、子孫享福、猶及見之、其家平康、無所畏懼、上帝不降以災、其牛方字、而胎不殰、產犢而保其生。嬰孩成群、子女舞蹈、播鼗鼓琴、蕭管悅耳、其在世也、為樂靡涯、其逝世也、患疾不久、其平日對上帝曰、我不悅爾道、勿親我、孰為全能之主、事之何為、求之何益。爾曰、其福不長、我亦不為惡人辨。第惡人之燈見滅、其禍猝來、主赫怒加以困苦、果何時哉。彼若飛蓬、轉於空際、彼若糠秕、散於颶風、又在何時、我未之見也。爾曰、上帝降殃、罰及其嗣、我以為何不使其身受之、俾目擊禍患之至、親膺全能者之震怒。若生命既絕、家庭之事、已不及知矣。矜高之人、為上帝所鞫、其間孰能贊一詞乎。斯世之人、或至死、豐盛平康、得享綏安。胸膈脂充、百骸髓滿。或至死、困苦盈懷、終不享福、要皆長眠黃土、蚯蚓盤其上。我知爾狡、欲以口給禦人。爾曰、霸者之殿安在、惡人之宅烏存。何不詢諸行路之人、以其言為據、其言曰、為惡之人、亦蒙矜憫、死之日友朋送喪。彼之所行、孰敢斥之、誰能報之。群送之墓、謹守其陵。封植甚美、前呵後衛者、不可勝計。爾之慰藉無益、爾之言語差謬。

蓋王子於立約之後、不以盟誓為重、而爽其約、故不能免難。主耶和華又曰、彼藐視約言、而背我命、我指己而誓、必罰其罪、

指天地之上帝耶和華而誓、我居迦南、斯土之女、勿妻我子。

吝者生於世、雖永壽二千年、未嘗一日厚於自奉、其後與眾同歸一邱。

我見驕者福祉駢臻、惡者昌盛無比、雖試上帝、亦得免於患難、

設女不欲來斯、則我使爾誓、與爾無與、惟不可歸我子於故土。僕遂置手於主亞伯拉罕髀下、依所言而誓。○

既至、蜜滴於地、民畏誓言、手不敢取。
