聚集百姓，使會眾自潔；召集老年人，聚集孩童和在母懷吃奶的；使新郎出內室，新娘離開洞房。

夫妻不可忽略對方的需求，除非為了要專心禱告，在兩相情願下暫時分房；以後仍要同房，免得撒但趁着你們情不自禁而引誘你們。

他對百姓說：「第三天要預備好；不可親近女人。」

吩咐他們說：『你們從這裏，從約旦河中祭司的腳穩穩站立的地方，取十二塊石頭，一起帶過去，放在你們今夜住宿的地方。』」於是約書亞召集了他從以色列人中所選的十二個人，每支派一人。約書亞對他們說：「你們要過去，到約旦河中，耶和華－你們上帝的約櫃前面，按以色列人支派的數目，每人各取一塊石頭扛在肩上。這些石頭在你們中間將成為記號。日後，你們的子孫問你們說：『這些石頭對你們有甚麼意思呢？』你們就對他們說：『這是因為約旦河的水在耶和華的約櫃前中斷；約櫃過約旦河的時候，約旦河的水就中斷了。這些石頭要作以色列人永遠的紀念。』」以色列人就照約書亞所吩咐的做了。他們按以色列人支派的數目，從約旦河中取了十二塊石頭，正如耶和華所吩咐約書亞的。他們把石頭帶過去，到他們所住宿的地方，就放在那裏。約書亞另外把十二塊石頭立在約旦河的中間，在抬約櫃祭司的腳站立的地方；直到今日，石頭還在那裏。

祭司對大衛說：「我手中沒有普通的餅，只有聖餅，只能給沒有親近婦人的年輕人。」大衛回答祭司說：「我們確實沒有親近婦人，如同往常我出征的時候一樣。平常行路，僕人的身體都還分別為聖，何況今日豈不更使自己分別為聖嗎？」

他們拿下押沙龍，把他丟在樹林中一個大坑裏，上頭堆起一大堆石頭。以色列眾人都逃跑，各回自己的帳棚去了。押沙龍活着的時候，曾在王谷立了一根柱子，因他說：「我沒有兒子為我留名。」他就以自己的名字稱那柱子為押沙龍碑，直到今日。

他的左手在我頭下，他的右手將我環抱。耶路撒冷的女子啊，我指着羚羊或田野的母鹿囑咐你們，不要喚醒，不要挑動愛情，等它自發。

日落的時候，約書亞吩咐人把屍首從樹上取下來，丟在他們躲過的洞裏，把幾塊大石頭放在洞口，直存到今日。
