我心思維、酌酒以快我身、而心仍為智慧所導、又思持守愚拙、知天下人畢生所行、孰為美善、

我姑以酒為懽、若無智然、而仍不敢失度、庶知人生在世、最樂者何事。

我又自思、我且飲酒以樂我身、心仍導以智慧、又執守愚拙、直至我得見人生在世、人生在世原文作人在天下終身行何事為美、

I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly— my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was good for people to do under the heavens during the few days of their lives.

I tried cheering myself up by drinking wine. I even tried living in a foolish way. But wisdom was still guiding my mind. I wanted to see what was good for people to do on earth during their short lives.

I searched with my heart how to cheer my body with wine— my heart still guiding me with wisdom— and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the children of man to do under heaven during the few days of their life.

After much thought, I decided to cheer myself with wine. And while still seeking wisdom, I clutched at foolishness. In this way, I tried to experience the only happiness most people find during their brief life in this world.

I explored with my mind the pull of wine on my body— my mind still guiding me with wisdom— and how to grasp folly, until I could see what is good for people to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.

I explored with my mind how to refresh my body with wine while my mind was guiding me wisely; and how to seize foolishness, until I could see what good there is for the sons of mankind to do under heaven for the few years of their lives.

酒能使人傲慢，烈酒使人喧嚷，凡沉溺其中的，都無智慧。

我專心想要明白智慧，想要明白狂妄與愚昧，方知這也是捕風。

這些事都已聽見了，結論就是：敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，這是人當盡的本分。

利慕伊勒啊，君王不宜，君王不宜喝酒，王子尋找烈酒也不相宜；恐怕喝了就忘記所頒的法令，顛倒所有困苦人的是非。

不要醉酒，酒能使人放蕩；要被聖靈充滿。

人一生虛度的日子，如影兒經過，誰知道甚麼才是對他有益呢？誰能告訴他身後在日光之下會發生甚麼事呢？

難道一個人有吃有喝，且在勞碌中享福，不是福氣嗎？我看這也是出於神的手。

我們經過的日子，都在你震怒之下，我們度盡的年歲，好像一聲嘆息。我們一生的年日是七十歲，若是強壯可到八十歲；但其中所矜誇的不過是勞苦愁煩，轉眼即逝，我們便如飛而去。誰曉得你怒氣的權勢？誰因着敬畏你而曉得你的憤怒呢？求你指教我們怎樣數算自己的日子，好叫我們得着智慧的心。

誰有禍患？誰有災難？誰有紛爭？誰有焦慮？誰無故受傷？誰的眼目紅赤？就是那流連飲酒的人，常去尋找調和的酒。酒發紅，在杯中閃爍時，你不可觀看；雖下咽舒暢，終究它必咬你如蛇，刺你如毒蛇。

亞比該到拿八那裏，看哪，他在家裏擺設宴席，如同王的宴席。拿八心情舒暢，酩酊大醉。所以亞比該大小事都沒有告訴他，直等到早晨天亮的時候。

壯士若死了能再活嗎？我在一切服役的日子中等待，直到我退伍的時候來到。

你持守這個，那個也不要鬆手才好。敬畏神的人，這一切都能兼得。

雅各對法老說：「我在世寄居的年日是一百三十年，我一生的歲月又短又苦，比不上我祖先在世寄居的年日。」

我知道，人除了終身喜樂納福，沒有一件幸福的事。並且人人吃喝，在他的一切勞碌中享福，這也是神的賞賜。

我轉念，一心要知道，要考察，要尋求智慧和萬事的來由，要知道邪惡為愚昧，愚昧為狂妄。

「一個人不能服侍兩個主；他不是恨這個愛那個，就是重這個輕那個。你們不能又服侍神，又服侍瑪門。」

基督和彼列有甚麼相和？信主的和不信主的有甚麼相干？神的殿和偶像有甚麼相同？因為我們是永生神的殿，就如神曾說：「我要在他們中間居住來往；我要作他們的神，他們要作我的子民。」所以主說：「你們務要從他們中間出來，跟他們分別；不要沾不潔淨的東西，我就收納你們。
