All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

As long as they live, their work is nothing but pain and sorrow. Even at night their minds can’t rest. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

For all his days are full of sorrow, and his work is a vexation. Even in the night his heart does not rest. This also is vanity.

Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even at night their minds cannot rest. It is all meaningless.

你早起晚睡，為生活操勞也是徒然，唯有耶和華所愛的人才能安眠。

你晝夜管教我，我的精力耗盡，如水在盛夏枯竭。（細拉）

王回宮後，整夜禁食，拒絕娛樂，無法入睡。

堅固各地門徒的信心，鼓勵他們要持守信仰，並且說：「我們在進入上帝國的道路上必經歷許多苦難。」

你使我們先前經歷了多少苦難和不幸的歲月，求你也賜給我們多少歡樂的歲月。

那夜王睡不著覺，就吩咐人拿史書念給他聽。

你的怒氣使我們滅亡，你的憤怒使我們戰抖。你知道我們的罪惡，對我們隱秘的罪瞭若指掌。我們活在你的烈怒之下，一生就像一聲歎息飛逝而去。我們一生七十歲，強壯的可活八十歲，但人生最美好的時光也充滿勞苦和愁煩，生命轉瞬即逝，我們便如飛而去。

我在困境中尋求主。我整夜舉手禱告，我的心無法得到安慰。我思想上帝，發出哀歎；我默想，心靈疲憊不堪。（細拉）你使我無法合眼，我心亂如麻，默然無語。

雅各回答說：「我在世上寄居一百三十年了，我的日子又苦又短，不像我祖先那樣高壽。」

我因哀歎心力交瘁，夜夜哭泣，淚漂床榻，濕透被褥。我的眼睛因憂愁而模糊，因敵人的攻擊而昏花。

勞力的人不管吃多吃少，總是睡得香甜；富人的萬貫家財卻害得他不能成眠。

因為智慧越高，愁煩越多；知識越多，痛苦越深。
