那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我在日光之下用智慧勞碌所得的。這也是虛空。

谁知道那人是智者还是愚人呢？然而，他却要接管我在日光之下用智慧辛勤经营的产业。这也是虚空。

那人将来是智是愚，有谁晓得呢？可是他竟要掌管一切我劳碌得来的，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这又是虚空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，谁知道呢？他却要掌管我劳苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这也是虚空！

那人會有智慧或是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我勞碌所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧所勞碌得來的：這也是虛空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，誰知道呢？他卻要掌管我勞苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得來的。這也是虛空！

彼為智為愚、孰克知之、我於日下以智勞力操作者、彼必主之、斯亦虛空、

子孫智愚、難以逆料、惟我竭其心思、勞苦畢生、彼得而主之、豈不盡屬於虛哉。

其人或智或愚、尚未可知、我在日下、用智慧勞碌所得者、竟為彼所轄、此亦屬於虛、

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Either way, they’ll take over everything on earth I’ve worked so hard for. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is futility.

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knoweth whether he will be a wise man or a fool? yet will he have rule over all my labor wherein I have labored, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise[ man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This[ is] also vanity.

惟獨從上頭來的智慧，先是清潔，後是和平、溫良、柔順，滿有憐憫和美善的果子，沒有偏私，沒有虛偽。

總而言之，人能夠在他經營的事上喜樂，是最好不過了，因為這是他應得的報償。他身後的事誰能領他回來看呢？

他照着年輕人所出的主意對他們說：「我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛！我父親用鞭子懲罰你們，我卻要用蠍子懲罰你們！」王不依從百姓，因這事件是出於耶和華，為要應驗耶和華藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八的兒子耶羅波安所說的話。以色列眾人見王不依從他們，百姓就回話給王，說：「我們在大衛中有甚麼份呢？我們在耶西的兒子中沒有產業！以色列啊，回你的帳棚去吧！大衛啊，現在你顧自己的家吧！」於是，以色列人都回自己的帳棚去了；至於住猶大城鎮的以色列人，羅波安仍作他們的王。羅波安王派監管勞役的亞多蘭去，以色列眾人用石頭打他，他就死了。羅波安王急忙上車，逃回耶路撒冷去了。這樣，以色列背叛大衛家，直到今日。以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安回來了，就派人去請他到會眾那裏，立他作全以色列的王。除了猶大支派，沒有跟從大衛家的。

我見日光之下有一樣智慧，在我看來是偉大的，

各樣美善的恩澤和各樣完美的賞賜都是從上頭來的，從眾光之父那裏降下來的；在他並沒有改變，也沒有轉動的影兒。

羅波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上來攻打耶路撒冷，奪了耶和華殿和王宮裏的寶物，盡都帶走，又奪走所羅門製造的一切金盾牌。羅波安王製造銅盾牌代替那些金盾牌，交給看守王宮宮門的護衛長看管。每逢王進耶和華的殿，護衛兵就舉起這些盾牌；隨後仍將盾牌送回護衛室。

於是，埃及王示撒上來攻取耶路撒冷，奪了耶和華殿和王宮裏的寶物，盡都帶走，又奪走所羅門製造的金盾牌。羅波安王製造銅盾牌代替那些金盾牌，交給看守王宮宮門的護衛長看管。

王嚴厲地回答他們。羅波安王不採納長者所出的主意，卻照着年輕人所出的主意對他們說：「我使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛！我父親用鞭子懲罰你們，我卻要用蠍子！」王不依從百姓，因這事件是出於神，為要應驗耶和華藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八的兒子耶羅波安所說的話。以色列眾人見王不依從他們，百姓就回覆王說：「我們在大衛中有甚麼分呢？我們在耶西的兒子中沒有產業！以色列啊，各回自己的帳棚去吧！大衛啊，現在你顧自己的家吧！」於是，以色列眾人都回自己的帳棚去了；

主人就誇獎這不義的管家做事精明，因為今世之子應付自己的世代比光明之子更加精明。
