And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is futility.

那人将来是智是愚，有谁晓得呢？可是他竟要掌管一切我劳碌得来的，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这又是虚空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，谁知道呢？他却要掌管我劳苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这也是虚空！

那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道？他竟要管理我勞碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。這也是虛空。

那人會有智慧或是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我勞碌所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧所勞碌得來的：這也是虛空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，誰知道呢？他卻要掌管我勞苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得來的。這也是虛空！

彼為智為愚、孰克知之、我於日下以智勞力操作者、彼必主之、斯亦虛空、

子孫智愚、難以逆料、惟我竭其心思、勞苦畢生、彼得而主之、豈不盡屬於虛哉。

其人或智或愚、尚未可知、我在日下、用智慧勞碌所得者、竟為彼所轄、此亦屬於虛、

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Either way, they’ll take over everything on earth I’ve worked so hard for. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knoweth whether he will be a wise man or a fool? yet will he have rule over all my labor wherein I have labored, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise[ man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This[ is] also vanity.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.

I have seen that nothing is better than when a person is happy in his activities, for that is his lot. For who will bring him to see what will occur after him?

and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions!”So the king did not listen to the people; because it was a turn of events from the Lord, in order to establish His word which the Lord spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,“ What share do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; To your tents, Israel! Now look after your own house, David!” So Israel went away to their tents.But as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, and all Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam hurried to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.So Israel has broken with the house of David to this day.And it came about, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, that they sent word and called him to the assembly, and made him king over all Israel. None except the tribe of Judah alone followed the house of David.

This too I saw as wisdom under the sun, and it impressed me:

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Now it happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak the king of Egypt marched against Jerusalem.And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, and he took everything; he even took all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.So King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and entrusted them to the care of the commanders of the guard who guarded the doorway of the king’s house.And it happened as often as the king entered the house of the Lord, that the guards would carry them and would bring them back into the guards’ room.

So Shishak king of Egypt went up against Jerusalem, and he took the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s palace. He took everything; he even took the gold shields which Solomon had made.Then King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and committed them to the care of the commanders of the guards who guarded the entrance of the king’s house.

The king answered them harshly, and King Rehoboam ignored the advice of the elders.He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”So the king did not listen to the people, because it was a turn of events from God so that the Lord might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,“ What share do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Everyone to your tents, Israel! Now look after your own house, David!” So all Israel went away to their tents.

And his master complimented the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.
