我遂惡生、因於日下經營、乃為煩惱、悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、

斯世所為、殷憂慼慼、莫非捕風捉影、故我不樂其生。

So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

So I hated life. That’s because the work done on this earth made me sad. None of it has any meaning. It’s like chasing the wind.

So I hated life, because what is done under the sun was grievous to me, for all is vanity and a striving after wind.

So I came to hate life because everything done here under the sun is so troubling. Everything is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

Therefore, I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me. For everything is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was unhappy to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

厥後我觀我手所經營一切、及我所勞碌而得者、乃知皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、在日下毫無所益、○

求主取我生命、蓋我生不如死為善、

日出時、天主使東風來、其氣炎熇、原文作日出時天主備乾熱之東風日暴約拿之首、約拿憊極、求死曰、我生不如死為善、

甚至我願氣閉、我願死亡、勝於有生氣在我肢體、肢體原文作骨我厭生命、不欲永存、我日原屬虛空、寧舍我為幸、寧舍我為幸或作求主寛我我曰原虛

我觀日下所作之事、皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、

願主藏我於示阿勒、示阿勒見七章九節小註匿我以待主之怒息、為我定期、再眷顧我、

我讚嘆已死者較尚生者為幸、

目睹勝於心戀、然皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、○

何為使我目睹不義、人行惡作慝、人行惡作慝或作人行奸惡主何為徒觀、攘奪與兇暴恆於我前、怨隙滋生、爭端紛起、

人在日下、碌碌勞心、有何所得、

我際兩難之間、願逝世而與基督同在、是為愈美、但我在世、更為切要、為爾之故也、我既信此、則知我必仍存、與爾同在以益爾、以增爾之樂與信、

我若蒙主恩、與其待我若此、不如殺我、免我遭此困苦、

我生之日可詛、我母產我之日弗祥、弗祥或作永不蒙福人告我父曰、爾得男子、使父欣喜、我願斯人被詛、願斯人如彼古邑、主所傾覆而不後悔、願斯人清晨聞呼號、午間聞諠譁、我出母胎、主何不即殺我、何不使母恆妊、何不以母胎為我墓、我何出母胎、遭患難、懷愁慘、畢生蒙羞、

神舉我上升、攝我以去、我心煩惱、殷憂慘慘、惟天主之神大感我、

我又見日下審判之所、竟有偏私、當行公義之處、反有不義、

求主垂念我之歲月甚短、主創造世人、緣何使之如此虛幻、

光明何為賜於受難者、生命何為賜於苦心者、若此之人、盼死不得、求死甚於珍寶、若尋獲墳墓、則欣喜踴躍、歡樂不勝、又作若見邱塋則歡欣尋獲墳墓則喜樂

自行於曠野一日之程、至一所、坐於羅騰羅騰又作利騰松類樹下、且願死、曰、主歟、已矣、求主取我生命、蓋我不勝於我列祖、
