『以色列啊、你要聽；你今日正要過約但河、進去趕出比你大比你強的列國人、去取得那些又大又有堡壘、高得頂天的城邑。

以色列歟、爾其聽之、爾今濟約但、據有其國、其民較爾強大、其邑宏廣、其垣參天、

以色列族、尚其聽之、今日爾渡約但、有較爾強大之民、其城垣廣大、高可參天、爾將得之。

以色列人當聽、爾今日將渡約但、欲往得國、居民較爾強大、城垣廣大鞏固、崇高接天、

Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.

Israel, listen to me. You are now about to go across the Jordan River. You will take over the land of the nations that live there. Those nations are greater and stronger than you are. Their large cities have walls that reach up to the sky.

“ Hear, O Israel: you are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

“ Listen, O Israel! Today you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land belonging to nations much greater and more powerful than you. They live in cities with walls that reach to the sky!

“ Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and drive out nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens.

“ Hear, Israel! You are crossing the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities that are great and fortified to heaven,

“ Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

我們怎能上去呢？那些弟兄的報告令我們膽戰心驚，他們說那裡的人比我們高大，城邑雄偉，城牆高達雲霄，還有亞衲人在那裡。』

趕走比你們強大的民族，領你們進入他們的土地，把他們的土地賜給你們作產業，正如今日的情形。

耶和華就會為你們趕走那些比你們強大的民族，你們也必佔領他們的土地。

你們穿過約旦河，佔領耶和華賜給你們的土地，定居下來以後，

「你們要走遍全營，吩咐大家預備好食物。因為三天之內，你們就要過約旦河，去佔領你們的上帝耶和華賜給你們的土地。」

「你們的上帝耶和華帶領你們進入將要佔領的土地時，會為你們趕走赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人這七個比你們強大的民族。

那天是一月十日。以色列人從約旦河上來之後，就在耶利哥東邊的吉甲紮營。

「那時我吩咐他們，『你們的上帝耶和華已經把這些地方賜給你們，但你們所有的戰士必須帶著兵器過河，做同胞的先鋒。

往下流的水立即止住了，在很遠的撒拉但附近的亞當城那裡漲成一道水牆。流入亞拉巴海，即鹽海的水被完全截斷了，民眾便走到對面的耶利哥。

約書亞又對祭司說：「抬起約櫃，率領民眾過河吧！」他們就抬起約櫃，走在民眾前面。

但那裡的居民很強悍，城邑又大又堅固。我們在那裡還見到亞衲人的子孫。亞瑪力人住在南地，赫人、耶布斯人和亞摩利人住在山區，迦南人住在海邊和約旦河沿岸。」迦勒讓站在摩西面前的民眾安靜，然後說：「我們立刻去佔領那地方吧！我們必能取勝。」跟他一起去打探的人卻說：「我們不能去攻打那些人，他們比我們強大。」他們還危言聳聽，說：「我們去打探的地方是吞吃居民之地，我們看見的人個個身材高大。我們在那裡看見了亞衲人的子孫，他們是巨人的後裔，我們跟他們相比就像蚱蜢，他們看我們也像蚱蜢。」

那時是收割的季節，河水高漲，淹沒兩岸。民眾拔營準備過河的時候，抬約櫃的祭司走在前頭，當他們的腳剛一踏進河水，

他們經南地到達希伯崙。希伯崙城比埃及的鎖安城還要早建七年，那裡住著亞衲人的子孫亞希幔、示篩和撻買。

你們渡過約旦河、進入你們的上帝耶和華應許給你們的土地那天，要豎立幾塊大石，塗上石灰。

「你們到約旦河床你們的上帝耶和華的約櫃前面，每人扛一塊石頭回來，每個支派一塊，一共十二塊。
