以色列人又行了永恆主所看為壞的事，去服事眾巴力、和亞斯他錄、跟亞蘭的神、西頓的神、摩押的神、亞捫人的神、非利士人的神：他們離棄了永恆主，不事奉他。永恆主向以色列人發怒，就把他們交付在非利士人手中、和亞捫人手中。

以色列人行了永恆主所看為壞的事、去服事眾巴力；

他們用外族人的神激了上帝的妒憤，用可厭惡的事惹了他發怒。他們獻祭給鬼魔、並不是真神，乃是他們素不認識的神，是近來新興的，是你們列祖所不畏懼的。

那麼、我今日就呼天喚地來警告你們，你們必定從過約但河取得為業的地上迅速地滅亡；你們在那地必不能延年益壽，總必完全被消滅。

以色列人行了永恆主所看為壞的事，忘了永恆主他們的上帝，去服事眾巴力和亞舍拉神木，因此永恆主向以色列人發怒，就把他們交付於米所波大米王古珊利薩田手中；以色列人服事了古珊利薩田八年。
