In the future, when your son asks you,“ What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?”

Later on, your child might ask you,“ What is the meaning of the terms, rules and laws the Lord our God has commanded you to obey?”

“ When your son asks you in time to come,‘ What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’

“ In the future your children will ask you,‘ What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’

“ When your son asks you in the future,‘ What is the meaning of the decrees, statutes, and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?’

“ When your son asks you in time to come, saying,‘ What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’

“ When your son asks you in time to come, saying,‘ What is the meaning of the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which the Lord our God has commanded you?’

When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

“ When your son asks you in the future,‘ What is the meaning of the decrees, statutes, and ordinances, which the Lord our God has commanded you?’

[ And] when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What[ mean] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?

When your children ask you later on,“ What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the LORD our God commanded you?”

When your son asks you in time to come, saying,“ What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?”

to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you,‘ What do these stones mean?’tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” (niv)

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (niv)

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (niv)
