“ You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him in Massah.

勿試爾上帝耶和華、如昔在瑪撒然、

勿試耶和華爾之上帝、如昔在馬撒然。

勿試主爾之天主、如昔爾試之在瑪撒然、

Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

Don’t test the Lord your God as you did at Massah.

“ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.

You must not test the Lord your God as you did when you complained at Massah.

Do not test the LORD your God as you tested him at Massah.

“ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.

Ye shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

Do not test the Lord your God as you tested Him at Massah.

Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted[ him] in Massah.

You must not put the LORD your God to the test as you did at Massah.

You shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

So he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord among us or not?”

And Jesus answered and said to him,“ It has been said,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

Jesus said to him,“ It is written again,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

“ Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work.

Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.

Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said,“ Give us water, that we may drink.” So Moses said to them,“ Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the Lord?”

nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;

Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way.And the people spoke against God and against Moses:“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

And the people contended with Moses and spoke, saying:“ If only we had died when our brethren died before the Lord!Why have you brought up the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we and our animals should die here?

This was the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel contended with the Lord, and He was hallowed among them.
