( I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you Yahweh’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,

那麼，為什麼會有律法呢？律法是為了使人知罪而頒佈的，等那位承受應許的後裔來到後，律法的任務就完成了。律法是通過天使交給一位中間人頒佈的。

到了第三天早晨，山上雷電大作，烏雲密佈，又有嘹亮的號角聲，營中的百姓都膽戰心驚。

那時雷電交加，號角嘹亮，山上冒煙，百姓看見此情景，都嚇得渾身顫抖，不敢挨近。他們對摩西說：「求你跟我們說話，我們必聽從。不要讓上帝直接跟我們說話，恐怕我們會喪命！」摩西對百姓說：「不用害怕，上帝降臨是要試驗你們，目的是讓你們時時敬畏祂，不致犯罪。」百姓都站得遠遠的，摩西獨自走進上帝所在的密雲中。

你們並非來到那座摸得到、有火焰、烏雲、黑暗、狂風、號角聲和說話聲的西奈山，聽見這些聲音的人都哀求不要再向他們說話了。因為他們承擔不了所領受的命令：「即便是動物靠近這山，也要用石頭打死牠！」那情景實在可怕，就連摩西也說：「我嚇得發抖。」但你們現在來到了錫安山，永活上帝的城邑，天上的耶路撒冷，歡聚著千萬天使的地方。這裡有名字記錄在天上的眾長子的教會，有審判眾人的上帝和已達到純全的義人的靈魂，還有新約的中保耶穌和祂所流的血。這血比亞伯的血發出更美的信息。

只有你可以靠近我，其他人，包括全體百姓，都不得走近。」摩西下山把耶和華的話和法令都告訴百姓，百姓齊聲回答：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐。」

因為基督並非進入了人手所造的聖所，那只是真聖所的縮影，祂是進入了天堂，替我們來到上帝面前。

他們的首領將是自己的同胞，他們的元首將出自本族。他必應我的邀請來到我面前，因為無人敢貿然來到我面前。這是耶和華說的。

你去聽聽我們上帝耶和華所說的話，然後回來告訴我們，我們必聽從、遵行。』

耶和華又讓我看見約書亞大祭司站在祂的天使面前，撒旦站在約書亞的右邊要控訴他。耶和華對撒旦說：「撒旦啊，耶和華斥責你！揀選耶路撒冷的耶和華斥責你！這人豈不像從火中抽出來的一根柴嗎？」那時，約書亞穿著污穢的衣服站在天使面前。天使對侍立在周圍的說：「脫掉他污穢的衣服。」他又對約書亞說：「看啊，我已除掉你的罪，我要給你穿上華美的衣服。」我說：「要給他戴上潔淨的禮冠。」他們便給他戴上潔淨的禮冠、穿上華美的衣服。那時，耶和華的天使站在旁邊。

因此祂說要消滅他們。若不是祂所揀選的摩西為他們求情，祂早已在烈怒中毀滅了他們。

其中二人轉身向所多瑪走去，亞伯拉罕卻仍舊站在耶和華面前。

他站在活人和死人中間，瘟疫就止住了。
