“ You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

“ Do not want to have your neighbor’s wife. Do not desire anything your neighbor owns. Do not desire to have your neighbor’s house or land, male or female servant, ox or donkey.”

“‘ And you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. And you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.’

“ You must not covet your neighbor’s wife. You must not covet your neighbor’s house or land, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.

Do not covet your neighbor’s wife or desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

‘ You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male slave or his female slave, his ox, his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’

“不可贪爱你邻舍的房屋；不可贪爱你邻舍的妻子、仆婢、牛驴和他的任何东西。”

那“不可奸淫，不可杀人，不可偷盗，不可贪心”等等的诫命，都包括在“爱人如己”这一句话里面了。

于是他对众人说：“你们要谨慎，远离一切贪心，因为人的生命并不在于家道丰富。”

耶斯列人拿伯在耶斯列有一个葡萄园，靠近撒玛利亚王亚哈的王宫。亚哈对拿伯说：“把你的葡萄园让给我，我可以用作菜园，因为你的葡萄园靠近我的王宫。我要把一个更好的葡萄园与你交换。如果你喜欢，我也可以按市价给你银子。”可是拿伯对亚哈说：“耶和华绝对不容许我把祖业给你。”亚哈因为耶斯列人拿伯对他说：“我不能把祖业给你”，就闷闷不乐回到宫里。他躺在床上，脸朝向内，也不吃饭。

他们要田地，就去抢夺；想要房屋，就去强取。他们欺压人和他的家眷，取人和人的产业。

你这为自己的家积聚不义之财，在高处搭窝，以逃避灾害的，有祸了！

但那些想要发财的人，就落在试探中和陷阱里；又落在许多无知而有害的私欲里，使人沉沦在败坏和灭亡中；因为贪财是万恶之根。有人贪爱钱财，就被引诱离开真道，用许多痛苦把自己刺透了。

你们为人不要贪爱钱财，要以现在所有的为满足；因为神亲自说过：“我决不撇下你，也不离弃你。”

这样，我们可以说什么呢？难道律法是罪吗？绝对不是。不过，如果不是藉着律法，我就不知道什么是罪；如果不是律法说“不可贪心”，我就不知道什么是贪心。但罪趁着机会，藉着诫命在我里面发动各样的贪心，因为没有律法，罪是死的。
