Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

因為我揀選了他，是要他吩咐他的子孫和後代家族謹守我耶和華的道路，施行公義和公正；好讓我耶和華對亞伯拉罕所說的都應驗在他身上。」

就是我們所聽過、所知道的，也是我們的祖先向我們講述過的——我們不會向子孫隱瞞，而要向後代講述對耶和華的讚美，講述他的大能和他所行的奇妙作為。他在雅各中立下法度，在以色列中設立律法，這律法是他吩咐我們的祖先教導子孫的，好讓將要出生的後代子孫可以明白，並且起來向他們的子孫講述；這樣他們就把神當作他們的依靠，不會忘記神所行的，而會謹守他的誡命；以免像他們的祖先，成為頑梗悖逆、心裡不堅定、靈裡對神不忠實的一代。

你們做父親的，不要惹自己兒女生氣，而要照著主的訓練和警戒養育他們。

我兒啊，你要留心聽我的話語，側耳聽我的言語！不要讓它們離開你的眼目，要把它們謹守在你心中；因為對找到它們的人，它們就是生命，也是全身的痊癒之道。當謹守你的心，勝過保守一切，因為生命的泉源由心而出。

孩子們哪，你們要聽從父親的管教；要留心，好使你們獲得悟性；因為我給你們的是美好的教誨；你們不要離棄我的法則。當我在父親身邊還是個孩子，在母親面前是幼嫩的獨生子時，父親指教我，對我說：「你的心要持定我的話語，你當遵守我的誡命，就得以存活！你要獲得智慧，獲得悟性；不要忘記、也不要偏離我口中的言語。你不要離棄智慧，她就會保守你；你要愛她，她就守護你。智慧是首要的，你要獲得智慧；要用你所得的一切獲得悟性！你當尊崇智慧，她就高舉你；你擁抱她，她就使你得尊榮，她必將恩惠的花冠戴在你的頭上，把榮耀的冠冕給予你。」我兒啊，你要聽，並要接受我的言語，你生命的歲月就必增多！我指示你走在智慧的道路上，使你踏上正直的路徑；你行走的時候，腳步就不受阻礙；就算你奔跑，也不被絆倒。你要持守訓導，不要放棄；要謹守智慧，因為她是你的生命。

所以你應當記住你所領受、所聽見的是什麼；你應當持守，應當悔改。如果你不警醒，我就要來臨，就像賊來臨那樣；而你絕不會知道我什麼時候臨到你。

我兒啊，不要忘記我的法則，你的心要謹守我的誡命，因為它們會將長久的日子、生命的歲月與平安加給你。不要讓慈愛和信實離開你，要把它們繫在你的頸項上，刻在你的心版上；

我兒啊，要把你的心交給我，你的眼目要謹守我的道路！

神哪，縱然到我年老髮白的時候，你也不要離棄我，直到我向這世代宣告你的能力，向後世所有的人宣告你的大能！

我兒啊，你要聽從你父親的管教，不要撇棄你母親的法則！

我兒啊，你要謹守真知和謀略，不要讓它們離開你的眼目！

因此，我們必須更加留心所聽過的事，免得隨流漂去。

來吧，兒女們，聽從我！我要教導你們敬畏耶和華。誰是那喜愛生命、愛慕長壽為要看到福份的人呢？他就當謹守舌頭不出惡言，謹守嘴唇不說欺詐的話。當遠離惡事，當行善事，尋找並追求和平。耶和華的眼目向著義人，他的耳朵聽他們的呼求。耶和華的臉敵對作惡的人，要把他們的名號從地上剪除。

我將你的話語珍藏在我心裡，免得我對你犯罪。

我兒啊，你當遵守我的言語，把我的誡命珍藏在你裡面！

你看，信仰和他的行為相輔相成，而且信仰是本於行為得以完全的。

那麼，如果我們忽視了如此偉大的救恩，又怎麼能逃脫報應呢？這救恩起初由主傳講，後來由那些聽見的人向我們證實。

所以，你們要留心怎樣去聽；因為凡是有的，還要賜給他；凡是沒有的，連他自以為有的也將從他那裡被拿走。」

唯獨活人——活著的人才會稱頌你，像我今天這樣；作父親的才會使兒女認識你的信實。
