to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.

這六座城要給以色列人和他們中間的外人，以及寄居者，作為逃城，讓誤殺人的可以逃到那裏。「倘若人用鐵器打死人，他是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。若用手中可以致命的石頭打死人，他是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。若用手中可以致命的木器打死人，他是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。報血仇者可以親自殺死那故意殺人的；他一找到兇手，就可以殺死他。人若因怨恨把人推倒，或埋伏等着丟東西砸人，以至於死，或因仇恨用手打死人，打人的必被處死，他是故意殺人的；報血仇者一遇見兇手就可以殺死他。「人若不是出於仇恨，把人推倒，或不是埋伏等着丟東西砸人，或是在不注意的時候，用可以致命的石頭扔在人身上，以至於死，彼此沒有仇恨，也無意害對方，會眾就要照着這些典章，在殺人者和報血仇者中間審判。會眾要救這誤殺人的脫離報血仇者的手，送他回到他曾逃入的逃城那裏。他要住在城中，直到受聖膏的大祭司去世。但誤殺人的，無論甚麼時候，若離開了他所逃入的逃城邊界，報血仇者在逃城邊界外遇見他，把兇手殺了，報血仇者就沒有流人血之罪。因為誤殺人的應該住在逃城裏，直到大祭司去世。大祭司去世以後，誤殺人的才可以回到他所得為業之地。

「耶和華－你的神將列國剪除，他們的地耶和華－你神已賜給你，你又趕出他們，並且住在他們的城鎮和房屋，那時，你要在耶和華－你神所賜你為業的地上，為自己指定三座城。你要預備道路，將耶和華－你神使你承受為業的地分為三區，使任何一個殺人的可以逃到那裏去。「殺人的逃到那裏得以存活的案例是這樣：凡素無仇恨，無意中殺了鄰舍的，就如人與鄰舍同入林中伐木，手拿斧子一砍，本想砍下樹木，斧頭卻脫了把，飛落在鄰舍身上，以致那人死去，這人就可以逃到那些城中的一座，得以存活，免得報血仇的心中發火，去追趕那殺了人的，因為路途遙遠就能追上他，把他殺死。其實他是不該死的，因為他與被殺者素無仇恨。所以我吩咐你說，要為自己指定三座城。耶和華－你的神若照他向你列祖所起的誓擴張你的疆土，將所應許賜你列祖的全地給你，你若謹守遵行我今日所吩咐的這一切誡命，愛耶和華－你的神，天天遵行他的道，就要在這三座城之外，再添三座城，免得無辜人的血流在耶和華－你神所賜你為業的地中間，血就歸到你身上了。

藉這兩件不可更改的事－在這些事上，神絕不會說謊－我們這些逃往避難所的人能得到強有力的鼓勵，去抓住那擺在我們前頭的指望。
