使無讎怨而誤殺人者、可遁於彼、保其餘生。

使素與人無仇而誤殺之者、可逃於彼、逃入其邑、即可保全生命、

to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.

Suppose someone killed a person they didn’t hate and without meaning to do it. That person could run to one of those cities and stay alive.

就要選擇幾座城，給你們作避難城，讓誤殺人的，就是無心殺死人的，可以逃到那裡。它們可以作你們逃避報仇者的避難城，使誤殺人的不至於死，直到他站在會眾面前受審判。

你們分給利未人的城，其中要有六座避難城，讓誤殺人的可以逃到那裡去，此外還要給他們四十二座城。

這六座城要給以色列人和外族人，以及他們中間居住的人作避難城，使無心殺人的人，都可以逃到那裡去。“‘如果人用鐵器打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。如果人手裡拿著可以打死人的石頭打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。如果人手裡拿著可以打死人的木器打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的必被處死。報血仇的，要親自把那故意殺人的殺死；一遇見他，就可以殺死他。如果人因懷恨把人推倒，或是埋伏著向人扔東西，以致把人打死；或者因仇恨用手打人，以致把人打死；那打人的，必被處死，因為他是故意殺人的；報血仇的一遇見兇手，就可以殺死他。“‘但是，如果人沒有仇恨，忽然把人推倒，或是無意向人投擲甚麼器皿，或是因為沒有看見，用任何可以打死人的石頭，扔在人身上，以致把人打死，他本來與他無仇，也無意害他；這樣，會眾就要照著典章，在打死人的和報血仇的人中間施行裁判。會眾要把誤殺人的，從報血仇的人手中救出來；把他送回他所逃到的避難城去，他要住在那裡，直到受聖膏的大祭司死了。但誤殺人的，若是出了他逃進的避難城的境界，報血仇的在避難城境外遇著他，把他殺了，報血仇的就沒有犯流人血的罪。因為那誤殺人的應該住在避難城中，直到大祭司死了；大祭司死了以後，那誤殺人的才可以回到他自己地業去。

“耶和華你的神把列國的民剪除了，耶和華你的神把他們的地賜給了你，你趕走了那些國民，住在他們的城市和房屋以後，你就要在耶和華你的神賜給你得為業的地上，為自己分別三座城。你要為自己預備道路，又要把耶和華你的神給你作產業的地分為三區，使誤殺人的可以逃到那裡去。“誤殺人的逃到那裡，就可以存活，規例是這樣：無意殺了人，彼此又素無仇恨的，譬如他和鄰舍同進森林砍伐樹木，他手裡揮著斧子砍伐樹木的時候，斧頭竟脫了把，落在鄰舍身上，以致那人死了，他就可以逃到這些城中的一座去，這樣他就可以活命，免得報血仇的，心中怒火如焚的時候，追趕那誤殺人的，因為路途長遠，就追上了他，把他殺死；其實他沒有該死的罪，因為他和那人素無仇恨。因此我吩咐你：‘你要為自己分別三座城。’如果耶和華你的神照著他向你列祖起過的誓，擴張你的境界，把他應許賜給你列祖的全地，都賜給了你，如果你謹守遵行我今日吩咐你的這一切誡命，愛耶和華你的神，常常行他的道路，你就要在這三座城以外，再加添三座城；免得無辜人的血，流在耶和華你的神要賜給你作產業的地上，以致流人血的罪歸在你身上。

這兩件事是不能更改的，因為神是決不說謊的。因此，我們這些逃進避難所的人，就大得安慰，抓緊那擺在我們面前的盼望。
