to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.

Suppose someone killed a person they didn’t hate and without meaning to do it. That person could run to one of those cities and stay alive.

就要选择几座城，给你们作避难城，让误杀人的，就是无心杀死人的，可以逃到那里。它们可以作你们逃避报仇者的避难城，使误杀人的不至于死，直到他站在会众面前受审判。

你们分给利未人的城，其中要有六座避难城，让误杀人的可以逃到那里去，此外还要给他们四十二座城。

这六座城要给以色列人和外族人，以及他们中间居住的人作避难城，使无心杀人的人，都可以逃到那里去。“‘如果人用铁器打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意杀人的；故意杀人的必被处死。如果人手里拿着可以打死人的石头打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意杀人的；故意杀人的必被处死。如果人手里拿着可以打死人的木器打人，以致把人打死，他就是故意杀人的；故意杀人的必被处死。报血仇的，要亲自把那故意杀人的杀死；一遇见他，就可以杀死他。如果人因怀恨把人推倒，或是埋伏着向人扔东西，以致把人打死；或者因仇恨用手打人，以致把人打死；那打人的，必被处死，因为他是故意杀人的；报血仇的一遇见凶手，就可以杀死他。“‘但是，如果人没有仇恨，忽然把人推倒，或是无意向人投掷什么器皿，或是因为没有看见，用任何可以打死人的石头，扔在人身上，以致把人打死，他本来与他无仇，也无意害他；这样，会众就要照着典章，在打死人的和报血仇的人中间施行裁判。会众要把误杀人的，从报血仇的人手中救出来；把他送回他所逃到的避难城去，他要住在那里，直到受圣膏的大祭司死了。但误杀人的，若是出了他逃进的避难城的境界，报血仇的在避难城境外遇着他，把他杀了，报血仇的就没有犯流人血的罪。因为那误杀人的应该住在避难城中，直到大祭司死了；大祭司死了以后，那误杀人的才可以回到他自己地业去。

“耶和华你的神把列国的民剪除了，耶和华你的神把他们的地赐给了你，你赶走了那些国民，住在他们的城市和房屋以后，你就要在耶和华你的神赐给你得为业的地上，为自己分别三座城。你要为自己预备道路，又要把耶和华你的神给你作产业的地分为三区，使误杀人的可以逃到那里去。“误杀人的逃到那里，就可以存活，规例是这样：无意杀了人，彼此又素无仇恨的，譬如他和邻舍同进森林砍伐树木，他手里挥着斧子砍伐树木的时候，斧头竟脱了把，落在邻舍身上，以致那人死了，他就可以逃到这些城中的一座去，这样他就可以活命，免得报血仇的，心中怒火如焚的时候，追赶那误杀人的，因为路途长远，就追上了他，把他杀死；其实他没有该死的罪，因为他和那人素无仇恨。因此我吩咐你：‘你要为自己分别三座城。’如果耶和华你的神照着他向你列祖起过的誓，扩张你的境界，把他应许赐给你列祖的全地，都赐给了你，如果你谨守遵行我今日吩咐你的这一切诫命，爱耶和华你的神，常常行他的道路，你就要在这三座城以外，再加添三座城；免得无辜人的血，流在耶和华你的神要赐给你作产业的地上，以致流人血的罪归在你身上。

这两件事是不能更改的，因为神是决不说谎的。因此，我们这些逃进避难所的人，就大得安慰，抓紧那摆在我们面前的盼望。
