Moses said this about the tribe of Levi:“ O Lord, you have given your Thummim and Urim— the sacred lots— to your faithful servants the Levites. You put them to the test at Massah and struggled with them at the waters of Meribah.

省長告訴他們不可吃至聖之物，直等到有能用烏陵和土明來決疑的祭司興起來。

除了祭司和供職的利未人以外，任何人不得進入耶和華的殿，只有他們可以進去，因為他們是分別為聖的；全體人民都要遵守耶和華的吩咐。

掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻沒有藉著夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。

祭司不可娶被玷辱了的妓女為妻，也不可娶被丈夫離棄的女人為妻；因為祭司是歸他的神為聖的。

這樣的一位大祭司，對我們本是合適的。他是聖潔、沒有邪惡、沒有玷污、從罪人中分別出來、高過眾天的。

“你要用精金做一面牌子，在牌上像刻印章般刻著：‘歸耶和華為聖’。

省長告訴他們不可吃至聖之物，直等到有能用烏陵和土明來決疑的祭司興起來。

因為你必不把我的靈魂撇在陰間，也必不容你的聖者見朽壞（“朽壞”或譯：“深淵”）。

你在患難中呼求，我就搭救你；我在打雷的密雲中回答你，在米利巴的水邊試驗你。”（細拉）

他在曠野把你的列祖不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，是要使你受苦，要試煉你，使你終久得到福樂；

你也要記念耶和華你的神這四十年在曠野引導你的一切路程，為要使你受苦，要試煉你，要知道你心裡怎樣，看看你肯守他的誡命不肯。他使你受苦，任你飢餓，把你和你的列祖不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道人活著，不是單靠食物，更要靠耶和華口裡所出的一切話。
