神啊！你在古時，在我們列祖的日子所作的事，我們親耳聽見了，我們的列祖也給我們述說過。

就是我們所聽過所知道的，也是我們的列祖告訴我們的，我們不把這些事向他們的子孫隱瞞，卻要把耶和華應得的讚美、他的能力，和他所行的奇事，都向後代的人述說。

請你查問前幾代，留意他們列祖所查究的。我們只是昨天才有的，所以一無所知；我們在世的日子不過是影兒。難道他們不指教你，告訴你，從心裡發出言語來嗎？

我回想過往的日子，上古的年代；我想起我夜間的詩歌。我的心沉思默想，我的靈仔細探究。

“你問問在你以前過去的日子，自從神創造人在地上以來，從天這邊到天那邊，有沒有人行過這樣的大事，聽過像這樣的事呢？

那時，他們想起古時的日子，就是摩西和他的人民的日子，說：那把人民和他羊群的牧者從海裡領上來的，在哪裡呢？那把自己的聖靈降在他們中間的，在哪裡呢？

你們當記念上古以前的事，因為我是神，再沒有別的神；我是神，沒有神像我。

日後你的兒子若是問你們：‘這是甚麼意思？’你就要回答他：‘耶和華曾經用大能的手把我們從埃及為奴之家領出來。

耶和華啊！我思念你在古時賜下的典章，我就得了安慰。

我要述說耶和華的作為，我要記念你古時所行的奇事。我要默想你一切所行的，思想你的作為。

他的慈愛永遠消失，他的應許永久廢去嗎？

他心裡說：“我必永不搖動，我決不會遭遇災難。”
