In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

In the streets their children will be killed by swords. Their homes will be filled with terror. The young men and women will die. The babies and old people will die.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

城外有刀劍，城內有瘟疫和饑荒；在田野的必死在刀下，在城裡的必被饑荒和瘟疫吞滅。

耶和華啊！你看，患難臨到我！我的心腸激動，我的心在我裡面翻轉，因為我曾經非常悖逆。街上有刀劍使人喪子，屋裡也有死亡。

耶和華使迦勒底人的王上來攻打他們，在他們的聖殿裡用刀殺了他們的壯丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他們都不憐惜；耶和華把所有這些人都交在迦勒底王的手裡。

你們卻說：“不！我們要騎馬奔跑。”所以你們真的要逃跑；你們又說：“我們要騎快馬。”所以那些追趕你們的，也必快速！

因為死亡從窗戶上來，進入我們的堡壘；要從街上剪除孩童，從廣場上剪除年輕人。

我們從前到了馬其頓的時候，身體一點安寧也沒有，反而處處遭受患難，外面有爭戰，裡面有恐懼。

至於你們剩下的人，我必使他們在仇敵之地膽戰心驚；風吹落葉也會嚇跑他們；他們必逃跑，好像逃避刀劍一樣；雖然無人追趕，他們卻跌倒。雖然無人追趕，他們卻像面臨刀劍，彼此撞跌；你們在仇敵面前，不能站立得住。

嬰兒的舌頭因乾渴而緊貼上膛；孩童求餅，卻沒有人分給他們。

夜裡每到交更的時分，你要起來呼喊；在主面前你要傾心如水！你的孩童在各街頭上因飢餓而昏倒，你要為他們的性命向主舉手禱告。“耶和華啊，求你觀看！求你鑒察！你曾這樣對待過誰呢？難道婦人應該吃掉自己所生的，就是自己所撫養的嬰孩嗎？難道祭司和先知應該在主的聖所裡被殺害嗎？”少年人和老年人都在街上倒臥在地死了；我的年輕男女都倒斃於刀下；在你忿怒的日子，你殺了他們，你屠殺了他們，毫不憐惜。你從四圍招聚驚嚇我的，好像招聚人過節的日子一樣。在耶和華忿怒的日子，沒有人可以逃脫，可以生存。我所撫育、所養大的，我的仇敵都滅盡了。
