then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where he has scattered you.

When all that happens, the Lord your God will bless you with great success again. He will be very kind to you. He’ll bring you back from all the nations where he scattered you.

The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing the exiles back to Israel.

For I will gather you up from all the nations and bring you home again to your land.

Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love.

I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day.I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live.

Now they are the rebels, and God’s mercy has come to you so that they, too, will share in God’s mercy.

He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love.He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.Save us, O Lord our God! Gather us back from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.

“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: You can be sure that I will rescue my people from the east and from the west.I will bring them home again to live safely in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be faithful and just toward them as their God.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

“ Listen to this message from the Lord, you nations of the world; proclaim it in distant coastlands: The Lord, who scattered his people, will gather them and watch over them as a shepherd does his flock.

And if the people of Israel turn from their unbelief, they will be grafted in again, for God has the power to graft them back into the tree.

I will certainly bring my people back again from all the countries where I will scatter them in my fury. I will bring them back to this very city and let them live in peace and safety.They will be my people, and I will be their God.And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.“ This is what the Lord says: Just as I have brought all these calamities on them, so I will do all the good I have promised them.Fields will again be bought and sold in this land about which you now say,‘ It has been ravaged by the Babylonians, a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’Yes, fields will once again be bought and sold— deeds signed and sealed and witnessed— in the land of Benjamin and here in Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the hill country, in the foothills of Judah and in the Negev, too. For someday I will restore prosperity to them. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

And so all Israel will be saved. As the Scriptures say,“ The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem, and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness.

When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream!We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said,“ What amazing things the Lord has done for them.”Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert.

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:“ This is what King Cyrus of Persia says:“ The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build him a Temple at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.Any of you who are his people may go to Jerusalem in Judah to rebuild this Temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives in Jerusalem. And may your God be with you!Wherever this Jewish remnant is found, let their neighbors contribute toward their expenses by giving them silver and gold, supplies for the journey, and livestock, as well as a voluntary offering for the Temple of God in Jerusalem.”

For the Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says: I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel.”
