但這些國民的城，耶和華－你神既賜你為業，其中凡有氣息的，一個不可存留；只要照耶和華－你神所吩咐的將這赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人都滅絕淨盡，免得他們教導你們學習一切可憎惡的事，就是他們向自己神所行的，以致你們得罪耶和華－你們的神。

以色列人向耶和華發願說：「你若將這民交付我手，我就把他們的城邑盡行毀滅。」

耶和華對我說：『不要怕他！因我已將他和他的眾民，並他的地，都交在你手中；你要待他像從前待住希實本的亞摩利王西宏一樣。』

那些城邑所有的財物和牲畜，以色列人都取為自己的掠物；惟有一切人口都用刀擊殺，直到殺盡；凡有氣息的沒有留下一個。

就是殺戮亞摩利王西宏，因他的慈愛永遠長存；又殺巴珊王噩，因他的慈愛永遠長存。他將他們的地賜他的百姓為業，因他的慈愛永遠長存；

「但一切永獻的，就是人從他所有永獻給耶和華的，無論是人，是牲畜，是他承受為業的地，都不可賣，也不可贖。凡永獻的是歸給耶和華為至聖。凡從人中當滅的都不可贖，必被治死。」
