如果約書亞已經使他們得了安息，神後來就不會再說到另一個日子了。

我在那賜生命給萬物的神面前，並在那曾經向本丟彼拉多見證了美好告白的基督耶穌面前吩咐你：要毫無玷汙、無可指責地遵守這命令，直到我們主耶穌基督的顯現。

我在神、基督耶穌面前，就是將要審判活人、死人的那一位面前，藉著他的顯現和他的國度鄭重地勸誡你：你要傳福音，無論得時不得時，總要堅持；要以極大的耐心和各樣的教導責備人、告誡人、鼓勵人，因為時候將到，人們容忍不了健全的教義，反要順著自己的欲望，為自己的耳朵能被呵癢得舒服，去召聚許多教師。他們將掩耳不聽真理，卻轉向編造的故事。至於你，要在一切事上謹慎，忍受苦難，做傳福音者的工作，完成你的服事。事實上，我已經在被澆奠了；我離開世界的時候已經臨到了。

因為律法是藉著摩西賜下的，恩典和真理是藉著耶穌基督而來的。
