For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you.

The Ammonites and Moabites didn’t come to meet you with food and water on your way out of Egypt. They even hired Balaam from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to put a curse on you. Balaam was the son of Beor.

他們離棄正路，走入歧途，跟從了比珥的兒子巴蘭的道路。這巴蘭貪愛不義的工價，

你可以按著價錢把食物賣給我吃，也可以按著價錢把水賣給我喝；只要讓我步行過去就是了；好像住在西珥的以掃子孫，和住在亞珥的摩押人待我一樣，等我過約旦河，進到耶和華我們的神賜給我們的地去。’

他不再是敵對者，並且他面前的使者拯救了他們。他以自己的愛和憐憫救贖了他們；在古時的一切日子，他背負他們，懷抱他們。

他仆倒在地，聽見有聲音對他說：“掃羅，掃羅！你為甚麼迫害我？”

巴蘭就作歌，說：“巴勒把我從亞蘭領出來，摩押王引我出東山，說：‘來吧，為我咒罵雅各，來啊，咒罵以色列。’

因為我必使你大得尊榮；你向我說甚麼，我都照辦；只求你替我咒詛這民。’”

耶洗別除滅耶和華眾先知的時候，俄巴底帶走了一百個先知，每五十個人一組，分散藏在山洞裡，又用餅和水供養他們。

我怎能把我的餅、我的水，和我為剪羊毛的人宰殺的肉，給那些我不知道從哪裡來的人呢？”

亞伯蘭擊敗了基大老瑪和與他聯盟的王回來的時候，所多瑪王出來，在沙微谷迎接他。沙微谷就是帝王谷。撒冷王麥基洗德也帶著餅和酒出來；他是至高神的祭司。

萬軍之耶和華這樣說，得了榮耀之後，他差遣我去攻擊那些劫掠你們的列國，因為凡觸摸你們的，就是觸摸他眼中的瞳人。

他就派使者到比珥的兒子巴蘭那裡去，就是到大河附近的毗奪，亞捫人的地那裡，去叫巴蘭來，說：“你看，有一個民族從埃及出來，遮滿了全地，如今住在我的對面。現在請你來，替我咒詛這民，因為他們比我強盛，或者我能夠擊敗他們，把他們從這地趕出去；因為我知道你給誰祝福，誰就得福；你咒詛誰，誰就受咒詛。”摩押的長老和米甸的長老，手裡帶著占卜的禮金去了；他們到了巴蘭那裡，把巴勒的話告訴他。

王要回答他們：‘我實在告訴你們，你們所作的，只要是作在我一個最小的弟兄身上，就是作在我的身上了。’
