You know how you should follow our example. We worked when we were with you.We didn’t eat anyone’s food without paying for it. In fact, it was just the opposite. We worked night and day. We worked very hard so that we wouldn’t cause any expense to any of you.

Don’t pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone thinks is right.

In everything, do to others what you would want them to do to you. This is what is written in the Law and in the Prophets.

The Israelites replied,“ We’ll go along the main road. We and our livestock won’t drink any of your water. If we do, we’ll pay for it. We only want to walk through your country. That’s all we ask.”
