Give the people these orders:‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.

Here are the orders I want you to give the people. Tell them,‘ You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives. They are from the family line of Esau. They live in Seir. They will be afraid of you. But be very careful.

and command the people,“ You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful.

Give these orders to the people:“ You will pass through the country belonging to your relatives the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. The Edomites will feel threatened, so be careful.

Command the people: You are about to travel through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, so be very careful.

And command thou the people, saying, Ye[ are] to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

Instruct these people as follows:‘ You are about to cross the border of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who inhabit Seir. They will be afraid of you, so watch yourselves carefully.

摩西从加低斯派使者去见以东王，说：“你的弟兄以色列人说，你知道我们遭遇的种种困难。我们祖先到埃及寄居多年，我们世代受埃及人虐待。但我们呼求耶和华，祂就垂听了我们的声音，差遣天使把我们领出埃及。现在我们来到你边境的加低斯城，求你容我们借道贵国。我们不会踏入田地和葡萄园，也不会喝井里的水，只走大路，不会偏离，直到走出贵国。”以东王却说：“你们不可从我这里经过，否则我必兵戎相见。”以色列人说：“我们只走大路，倘若我们和牲畜喝了你的水，我们会付钱。我们别无他求，只求步行穿过贵国。”但以东王仍然不准，还率领大军严阵以待。由于无法从以东穿过，以色列人只好绕道。

以东的族长惶恐，摩押的英雄颤栗，迦南的居民都胆战心惊。

“不可憎恶以东人，因为他们是你们的弟兄；也不可憎恶埃及人，因为你们曾经在埃及寄居。

好使你们在这个弯曲败坏的时代中无可指责、诚实无伪，做上帝纯洁无瑕的儿女，如同明光照耀在世上，

又见他们人多势众，都惊恐万状，对米甸的长老说：“这群人将吞掉我们周围的一切，如同牛吃光田间的草一样。”那时，西拨的儿子巴勒做摩押王。

同样，你们的光也应当照在人面前，好让他们看见你们的好行为，便赞美你们天上的父。

接着，祂对众人说：“你们要小心防范一切的贪心，因为人的生命并不在于家道富足。”

“因你曾残暴地对待同胞兄弟雅各，你必蒙羞，永遭毁灭。外族人掠夺雅各的财物，攻入耶路撒冷抽签分赃时，你竟然袖手旁观，就像他们的同伙一样。你的亲族遭难之日，你不该幸灾乐祸；犹大人被灭的日子，你不该兴高采烈；他们遭难的日子，你不该口出狂言；我子民遭难的日子，你不该闯进他们的城；他们遭难的日子，你不该幸灾乐祸；他们遭难的日子，你不该趁火打劫；

现在我要回本族去了。但我要告诉你日后以色列人会怎样对待你的人民。”巴兰吟诗预言说：“比珥之子巴兰的预言，是眼睛明亮者的话，他得听上帝之言，明白至高者的旨意，俯伏在地，得见全能者的异象。我所见的尚未发生，我目睹的关乎将来。一颗星要从雅各家升起，一位君王要从以色列兴起。他要打烂摩押的前额，击碎舍特人的头颅。他必征服以东，占领敌疆西珥，以色列必勇往直前。

你们要把握时机，运用智慧和非信徒交往。

因此，你们要注意自己的生活，不要像愚昧人，要像有智慧的人。
