as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us— until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

The people of Esau, who live in Seir, allowed us to do that. The people of Moab, who live in Ar, also allowed us to do it. So let us walk through until we go across the Jordan River. Then we’ll be able to go into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

遣使告以東王曰、盍容我過爾境。以東王不允、復遣使至摩押王、告以是言、亦不允、故以色列族居於迦鐵。遂巡曠野、環以東摩押境、至摩押東隅、建營於亞嫩外、不入其國、蓋摩押以亞嫩為界。

以東人曰、毋過我壤、恐我以刃擊爾。

亞捫人、摩押人、雖歷十世、至於永遠、亦不得入耶和華會。因昔爾出埃及、彼不以餅以水、迎饋其師、亦因以金賂庇耳子巴蘭、俾自米所波大米之比奪至、以咒詛爾故也。

然爾實強項不馴、爾當知爾上帝耶和華、非為爾義、錫爾腴壤、使爾據之、

摩西申命曰、以色列族乎、我今所示爾之法度、禮儀、宜聽從之、如是得生、而汝祖之上帝耶和華所賜汝之地、可入而得焉。

耶和華諭我曰、勿擾摩押人、與之戰爭、其地非爾所得、蓋我以亞耳賜羅得後裔為業。

衡量法度惟一、執其公平、則可享遐齡、於爾上帝耶和華所錫之地。

汝巡營諭民、預備糗糧、歷三日必濟約但、耶和華所賜之地、據而有之。約書亞告流便伽得二支派、與馬拿西支派之半、曰耶和華之僕摩西、所言當憶勿忘、其言曰、爾上帝耶和華以斯地錫爾、畀爾綏安、爾之妻孥牲畜、可留於約但東、摩西所畀之地、爾之勁旅、整其行伍、助爾同儕、而為前鋒、以濟斯河、迨耶和華以綏安賜爾同儕、可得其地、與爾無異、後爾可歸耶和華僕摩西所賜約但東之地、據而有之、

我今所傳者、耶和華之法度禮儀爾當恪守、則爾納福、爰及予孫、在爾上帝、耶和華所錫之地、永享遐齡。○

敬爾父母、遵爾上帝耶和華命、則納福享壽、於爾上帝耶和華所錫之地。

耶和華緣爾曹故、怒及於我、特發誓言、不許我渡約但、入爾上帝所錫之腴壤。

敬爾父母、則可於耶和華爾上帝所賜之地、而享遐齡。
