Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

「你們的埋怨惹耶和華發怒，祂起誓說，『這邪惡的一代沒有一人能看見我起誓要賜給他們祖先的佳美之地，

我在曠野曾向他們發誓，不帶他們進入我賜給他們的那奶蜜之鄉，那世上最佳美的地方，

因此我在怒中起誓說，『他們絕不可進入我的安息！』」

其中沒有一個是摩西和祭司亞倫從前在西奈曠野登記的人。因為耶和華說過，那批人都要死在曠野。果然，除了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞以外，上次登記的人無一存活。

他們來到巴蘭曠野的加低斯向摩西、亞倫和以色列全體會眾彙報，把當地的果子給大家看。

從何烈山取道西珥山到加低斯·巴尼亞，需十一天。

「我們照我們上帝耶和華的吩咐，從何烈山出發，走過你們所見的那大而可怕的曠野，前往亞摩利山區，來到加低斯·巴尼亞。

你們去把我的話告訴他們，『以色列人啊，我憑我的永恆起誓，我必照你們所說的對待你們。你們當中凡登記在冊、二十歲以上向我發怨言的人，必倒斃在這曠野中，除耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞之外，你們無人能進入我起誓應許的那片土地。你們說你們的兒女會被擄去，但我要把他們帶到那裡，讓他們享有那片你們厭棄的土地。而你們必死在這曠野。你們的兒女要在曠野飄泊四十年，為你們的不忠而受苦，直到你們都死在曠野。你們打探了那地方四十天，你們要為自己的罪受苦四十年，一年頂一天。那時，你們就知道與我為敵的後果。』我耶和華已經說過。我必使你們這群與我為敵的惡人死在曠野，無一倖免。」

儘管如此，他們當中大多數人不討上帝的喜悅，倒斃在曠野。

我們活在你的烈怒之下，一生就像一聲歎息飛逝而去。

因此，你們在加低斯住了很久。

你叫人歸回塵土，說：「世人啊，歸回塵土吧。」

不可心裡頑固，像從前在曠野試探祂、悖逆祂一樣。當時，你們的祖先試我、探我，觀看我的作為達四十年之久。所以我向那世代的人發怒，說，『他們總是執迷不悟，不認識我的道路。』我就在憤怒中起誓說，『他們絕不可進入我的安息。』」弟兄姊妹，要謹慎，免得你們當中有人心存惡念，不肯相信，背棄了永活的上帝。趁著還有今日，要天天互相勸勉，免得有人被罪迷惑，心裡變得剛硬。如果我們將起初的信念堅持到底，便在基督裡有份了。聖經上說：「你們今日若聽見祂的聲音，不可像從前那樣硬著心悖逆祂。」聽見祂的聲音卻又悖逆祂的是誰呢？不就是摩西從埃及領出來的那些人嗎？四十年之久惹上帝發怒的是誰呢？不就是那些犯罪作惡並倒斃在曠野的人嗎？上帝起誓不准誰進入祂的安息呢？不就是那些不肯信從的人嗎？可見，他們不能進入上帝的安息是因為不信的緣故。

以下的事情，你們雖然都知道，但我還要再提醒你們：從前上帝把祂的子民從埃及救出來，後來把其中不信的人滅絕了。

因此，祂舉手起誓要使他們倒斃在曠野，

『從埃及出來、二十歲以上的人都看不到我起誓要賜給亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的土地，因為他們沒有全心全意地跟從我；
