If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

Sometimes a prophet will announce something in the name of the Lord. And it won’t take place or come true. Then that’s a message the Lord hasn’t told him to speak. That prophet has dared to speak on his own authority. So don’t be afraid of what he says.

when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.

當那些日子、希西家病得要死。亞摩斯的兒子神言人以賽亞去見他，對他說：『永恆主這麼說：「你該立遺囑理家事，因為你一定死，你活不了啦。」』

那一年、當猶大王西底家開始掌國政的第四年五月，基遍人押朔的兒子神言人哈拿尼雅在永恆主殿中當着祭司和眾民面前告訴我說：『萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：我已經折斷了巴比倫王的軛。兩年以內、我必將巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒從這地掠到巴比倫去的器皿，就是永恆主殿中的一切器皿、都帶回這地來。我必將猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和那些到巴比倫去的、猶大一切流亡的人、都帶回這地來，因為我要折斷巴比倫王的軛：這是永恆主發神諭說的。』神言人耶利米就當着祭司面前、當着那些站在永恆主殿裏的眾民面前、對神言人哈拿尼雅說話：神言人耶利米說：『誠心所願！願永恆主這樣行！願永恆主實行你的話，你所傳為神言的話！將永恆主殿中的器皿、和一切流亡的人、都從巴比倫帶回這地來！不過我向你耳中、以及向眾民耳中所要說的這話、你總要聽。從古以來、你我以前的神言人向許多地區許多大國傳神言、都是論到戰爭、災禍、或瘟疫的。若有神言人傳平安為神言，就要等到話語應驗的時候，人才知道那神言人實在是永恆主所差遣的。』於是神言人哈拿尼雅將神言人耶利米脖子上的軛取下來，給折斷了。哈拿尼雅又當着眾民面前說：『永恆主這麼說：兩年以內、我也必這樣從列國人的脖子上折斷巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的軛。』但神言人耶利米卻逕自走他的路而去。神言人哈拿尼雅把神言人耶利米脖子上的軛折斷了以後，有永恆主的話傳與耶利米說：『你去告訴哈拿尼雅說：「永恆主這麼說：你折斷了木的軛，我卻要作鐵的軛來代替它。因為萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：我已將鐵的軛加在這些國的脖子上，使他們服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，他們總要服事他，連田野間的走獸、我也給了他。」』於是神言人耶利米對神言人哈拿尼雅說：『哈拿尼雅啊，你要聽；永恆主並沒有差遣你；你、竟使這人民倚靠着虛假。因此永恆主這麼說：「看吧，我必打發你離開塵世；就在今年、你就一定死；因為你說了叛逆永恆主的話。」』就在那年七月間、神言人哈拿尼雅就死了。

你們列祖在哪裏呢？那些神言人能永遠存活着麼？但是我的話、我的律例、就是我所吩咐我僕人眾神言人的、豈不是趕上而捉住了你們列祖，以致他們回轉來、說：萬軍之永恆主定意怎樣照我們的行徑和作為來辦我們，他已經照樣辦我們了』？

讓他們提出，並告訴我們所要發生的事。把先前的事是甚麼事告訴我們，好讓我們用心思想，好知道其結局；或者把將來的事說給我們聽聽！

約拿便進城；走着一天的行程，直宣告說：『再過四十天，尼尼微就覆滅了。』

麻雀怎樣飛來飛去，燕子怎樣翻飛，無緣無故而發的咒詛也怎樣不會應驗。

他就禱告永恆主說：『哦永恆主啊，我還在我本地的時候、不就這樣說了麼？故此我才急速逃往他施啊；因為我知道你是有恩惠有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛，並且能改變心意不降所說的災禍。

『你們中間若有神言人或是作夢的起來，給你一個神迹或奇事；那神迹或奇事應驗了；他就對你講到這事說：「我們去隨從別的神，服事他們吧」；這些神是你素來所不認識的；
