But the prophet who dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods— that prophet must die.’

如有先知擅藉我名、言我所未命其宣傳之言、或藉異邦之神而言、彼先知當誅、

But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”

But suppose a prophet dares to speak in my name something I have not commanded. Or he speaks in the name of other gods. Then that prophet must be put to death.”

“ If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,and that sign or wonder he has promised you comes about, but he says,‘ Let us follow other gods,’ which you have not known,‘ and let us worship them,’do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul.You must follow the Lord your God and fear Him. You must keep His commands and listen to His voice; you must worship Him and remain faithful to Him.That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery, to turn you from the way the Lord your God has commanded you to walk. You must purge the evil from you.

If a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him: You cannot remain alive because you have spoken falsely in the name of Yahweh. When he prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through.

Among the prophets of Samaria I saw something disgusting: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.Among the prophets of Jerusalem also I saw a horrible thing: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, and none turns his back on evil. They are all like Sodom to Me; Jerusalem’s residents are like Gomorrah.Therefore, this is what the Lord of Hosts says concerning the prophets: I am about to feed them wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.

Then Elijah ordered them,“ Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let even one of them escape.” So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the Wadi Kishon and slaughtered them there.

‘ I have not sent them’— this is the Lord’s declaration—‘ and they are prophesying falsely in My name; therefore, I will banish you, and you will perish— you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.’”

But these people, like irrational animals— creatures of instinct born to be caught and destroyed— speak blasphemies about things they don’t understand, and in their destruction they too will be destroyed,

The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah,“ Listen, Hananiah! The Lord did not send you, but you have led these people to trust in a lie.Therefore, this is what the Lord says:‘ I am about to send you off the face of the earth. You will die this year because you have spoken rebellion against the Lord.’”And the prophet Hananiah died that year in the seventh month.

But the Lord said to me,“ These prophets are prophesying a lie in My name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit of their own minds.“ Therefore, this is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, though I did not send them, and who say,‘ There will never be sword or famine in this land.’ By sword and famine these prophets will meet their end.

At noon Elijah mocked them. He said,“ Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away; or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up!”

The priests quit asking,“ Where is the Lord?” The experts in the law no longer knew Me, and the rulers rebelled against Me. The prophets prophesied by Baal and followed useless idols.

But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with him the false prophet, who had performed the signs in his presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image with these signs. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

They see false visions and speak lying divinations. They claim,‘ This is the Lord’s declaration,’ when the Lord did not send them, yet they wait for the fulfillment of their message.

Now summon all Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel, along with the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

I am against the prophets”— the Lord’s declaration—“ who use their own tongues to make a declaration.

“ Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.
