He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

The king must not have many wives. If he does, they will lead him astray. He must not store up large amounts of silver and gold.

And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.

因此人将离开父母，与妻子结合，二人就成为一体。

求你使虚妄和虚谎的事远离我；求你使我不贫穷也不富裕，只要把我所需要的粮食分给我，免得我饱足了，就否认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又免得我陷入穷困，就去偷窃，以致干犯了我神的名。

你不要依靠欺压，也不要妄想抢夺；即使财富增加，也不要放在心上。

并且说：‘为这缘故，人将离开父母，与妻子结合，两个人就成为一体。’

接着耶稣对他们说：“你们要注意，要提防一切贪心，因为一个人的生命不在于他财产的丰厚。”

对那些今世富有的人，你当吩咐他们不可高傲自大，也不可把盼望寄托在靠不住的财富上，而要寄托在神身上，神把万物丰丰富富地赐给我们享受。

神难道不是把你们造成一体，又把他的灵分配给了你们吗？神要的是什么呢？是属神的后裔。所以你们当谨守自己的心灵，不可背弃年轻时所娶的妻子。

至于那些想发财的人就会陷入试探、网罗以及很多无知有害的欲望里；这些欲望使人沉溺在败坏和灭亡中。

耶稣对他的门徒们说：“我确实地告诉你们：富有的人进入天国会很困难。我再告诉你们：骆驼穿过针眼，比富有的人进入神的国更容易呢！”

那被撒进种子的‘荆棘丛’是这样的人：他听了这话语，但今世的忧虑和财富的迷惑把话语挤住了，他就成了不结果实的。

“你们不要为自己在地上积蓄财宝，地上有虫蛀，会锈蚀，也有盗贼钻进来偷窃；而要为自己在天上积蓄财宝：天上既没有虫蛀，也不会锈蚀，也没有盗贼钻进来偷窃。
