耶和華對摩西說：「你要鑿出兩塊石版，跟你之前摔碎的兩塊一樣，我要把前兩塊石版上的字刻在上面。你要預備好，明天清早你要上西奈山頂來見我。

「要用皂莢木做一個櫃，長一點一米，寬六十六釐米，高六十六釐米，裡外都要包上純金，要用金子鑲櫃邊。再造四個金環，安在櫃的四個腳上，每邊兩個環。用皂莢木造兩根橫杠，外面要包上金，然後把橫杠穿過櫃旁的金環，便於抬櫃。橫杠穿進環以後，不可再抽出來。

於是，摩西鑿出兩塊石版，跟先前的兩塊一樣。他清早起來，照著耶和華的吩咐把石版帶到西奈山上。

於是，我用皂莢木做了一個櫃子，又鑿了兩塊石版，與前兩塊石版一樣，然後帶著石版上了山。耶和華把你們在山腳下聚會時祂在山上的火焰中向你們頒佈的十條誡命，重新刻在石版上，並把石版交給我。

裡面有純金的香壇和包金的約櫃。約櫃裡珍藏著盛嗎哪的金罐、亞倫那根發過芽的手杖和兩塊刻著十誡的石版，
