Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.“ Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers?”

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.Yet they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.

“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.”’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.“ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers?“ So they returned and said:‘ Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us, According to our ways and according to our deeds, So He has dealt with us.’”’”

And now, because you have done all these works,” says the Lord,“ and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer,

“ From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the Lord has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened.And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear.They said,‘ repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever.Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord,“ that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

because they have not heeded My words, says the Lord, which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; neither would you heed, says the Lord.
