我決意以禱告祈求、禁食衣麻蒙灰、尋主上帝、

我禁食衣麻蒙灰、向主天主祈禱懇求、

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

So I prayed to the Lord God. I begged him. I made many appeals to him. I didn’t eat anything. I put on the rough clothing people wear when they’re sad. And I sat down in ashes.

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for it is time to have pity on her. When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house( now his windows were open in his room toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.

The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying,“ Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”

When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.

In that day, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, called to weeping, to mourning, to baldness, and to dressing in sackcloth;

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.I ate no pleasant bread. No meat or wine came into my mouth. I didn’t anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

Now in the twenty- fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, with sackcloth, and dirt on them.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double- minded.Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
