in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

In that year I learned from the Scriptures that Jerusalem would remain destroyed for 70 years. That was what the Lord had told Jeremiah the prophet.

斯土必盡荒蕪、令人駭異、維此諸國、將服事巴比倫王、歷七十年、七十年既竟、我必罰巴比倫王與其國、及迦勒底人之地、使之永久荒蕪、以治其罪、耶和華言之矣、

波斯王古列元年、耶和華使藉耶利米口所言得應、感波斯王古列之心、宣告通國、且書之曰、

讀此預言、及聞而守其中所記者、福矣、蓋時邇矣、○

且有更確之預言、爾宜顧之、如燈燭暗、迨日始旦、明星照爾心矣、首要者、宜知經之預言、未有出於臆說者、蓋預言非由人意而來、乃感於聖神者、由上帝而言也、

斯救也、諸先知預言將臨於爾之恩者、且探索而研究之、乃考基督之神在其衷者、預證基督受苦、而後得榮、所指何時、何如時、彼得啟示、非為己、乃為爾曹而役斯事、即今宣福音者、賴自天所遣之聖神、告爾此事也、天使亦欲詳察之、○

且自幼穉識聖書、能使爾智、以致拯救、由於信之在基督耶穌中者、凡由上帝所感之聖經、有益於訓誨、督責、反正、習義、致屬上帝者得以純全、悉備善工、

以爾之故、錫安必被耕、有若田疇、耶路撒冷為墟、聖室之山、猶林中之崇邱、

上帝歟、外邦侵爾基業、污爾聖殿、使耶路撒冷荒墟兮、以爾僕之尸、飼天空之鳥、以聖民之肉、飼地上之獸兮、

我但以理既睹此異象、欲明其義、見有一立於我前者、其貌若人、亦聞烏萊河兩岸之間、有人聲呼曰、加百列歟、其使斯人知此異象、

當猶大王希西家時、摩利沙人彌迦預言、告猶大眾曰、萬軍之耶和華云、錫安必被耕、有若田疇、耶路撒冷為墟、聖室之山、猶林中之崇邱、

噫嘻是邑、昔則居民充盈、今則何其寂寞兮、昔為邦國之長、今如嫠婦兮、昔於諸州為郡主、今則供役兮、

荒涼之邑傾毀、第宅盡閉、無人得入、人因乏酒、號呼於衢、喜樂俱晦、境內之歡娛已杳、城中荒涼、邑門破壞、

我必使此室如示羅、使此邑為天下諸國所詛、

宦者謂腓利曰、先知言此、所指何人、己乎、抑他人乎、請以示我、

我之明哲、越於諸師、以我思爾法度兮、我所通達、越於耆老、以我守爾訓詞兮、

爾觀先知但以理所言、穢惡摧殘者、立於聖地、讀者宜致思焉、

即耶路撒冷、猶大諸邑、及其君王牧伯、俾邑荒蕪、令人駭異、被嗤笑、服呪詛、有如今日、

維時、我必使猶大諸邑、及耶路撒冷街衢、無有歡欣喜樂之聲、與新娶者及新婦之聲、以斯土成為荒蕪矣、

爾之聖邑、盡成荒野、錫安荒蕪、耶路撒冷邱墟、

專務誦讀、勸勉訓誨、以待我至、

爾之法度、為我所悅、乃我謀士兮、○

我曰、主歟、將至何時、曰、迨諸邑荒涼、無有居者、室廬闃寂、田畝荒蕪、耶和華遠徙其民、斯土遂極蕭條、

讀經者宜悟哉、爾見穢惡摧殘者、立於不當立之地、斯時也、居猶太者、宜遁於山、

列邦必服事之、延及子孫、迨其國之期既屆、則有多國大王、使之服役、

尚其舉步、往視歷久之荒墟、敵在聖室所行之諸惡兮、敵在會中咆哮、樹其旗為標識兮、勢如舉斧、以伐叢林兮、聖室雕工、今毀以斧錘兮、火焚聖室、玷爾寄名之所、傾之於地兮、
