in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

In that year I learned from the Scriptures that Jerusalem would remain destroyed for 70 years. That was what the Lord had told Jeremiah the prophet.

「耶和華如此說：為巴比倫所定的七十年滿了以後，我要眷顧你們，向你們成就我的恩言，使你們仍回此地。

這就應驗耶和華藉耶利米口所說的話：地享受安息；因為地土荒涼便守安息，直滿了七十年。

「你要宣告國內的眾民和祭司，說：『你們這七十年，在五月、七月禁食悲哀，豈是絲毫向我禁食嗎？

這全地必然荒涼，令人驚駭。這些國民要服事巴比倫王七十年。七十年滿了以後，我必刑罰巴比倫王和那國民，並迦勒底人之地，因他們的罪孽使那地永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

波斯王塞魯士元年，耶和華為要應驗藉耶利米口所說的話，就激動波斯王塞魯士的心，使他下詔通告全國說：

念這書上預言的和那些聽見又遵守其中所記載的，都是有福的，因為日期近了。

我們並有先知更確的預言，如同燈照在暗處。你們在這預言上留意，直等到天發亮，晨星在你們心裏出現的時候，才是好的。第一要緊的，該知道經上所有的預言沒有可隨私意解說的；因為預言從來沒有出於人意的，乃是人被聖靈感動，說出神的話來。

論到這救恩，那預先說你們要得恩典的眾先知早已詳細地尋求考察，就是考察在他們心裏基督的靈，預先證明基督受苦難，後來得榮耀，是指着甚麼時候，並怎樣的時候。他們得了啟示，知道他們所傳講的一切事，不是為自己，乃是為你們。那靠着從天上差來的聖靈傳福音給你們的人，現在將這些事報給你們；天使也願意詳細察看這些事。

並且知道你是從小明白聖經，這聖經能使你因信基督耶穌，有得救的智慧。聖經都是神所默示的，於教訓、督責、使人歸正、教導人學義都是有益的，叫屬神的人得以完全，預備行各樣的善事。

所以因你們的緣故，錫安必被耕種像一塊田，耶路撒冷必變為亂堆；這殿的山必像叢林的高處。

神啊，外邦人進入你的產業，污穢你的聖殿，使耶路撒冷變成荒堆，把你僕人的屍首交與天空的飛鳥為食，把你聖民的肉交與地上的野獸，

我－但以理見了這異象，願意明白其中的意思。忽有一位形狀像人的站在我面前。我又聽見烏萊河兩岸中有人聲呼叫說：「加百列啊，要使此人明白這異象。」

「當猶大王希西家的日子，有摩利沙人彌迦對猶大眾人預言說：萬軍之耶和華如此說：錫安必被耕種像一塊田；耶路撒冷必變為亂堆；這殿的山必像叢林的高處。

先前滿有人民的城，現在何竟獨坐！先前在列國中為大的，現在竟如寡婦；先前在諸省中為王后的，現在成為進貢的。

荒涼的城拆毀了；各家關門閉戶，使人都不得進去。在街上因酒有悲歎的聲音；一切喜樂變為昏暗；地上的歡樂歸於無有。城中只有荒涼；城門拆毀淨盡。

我就必使這殿如示羅，使這城為地上萬國所咒詛的。』」

太監對腓利說：「請問，先知說這話是指着誰？是指着自己呢？是指着別人呢？」

我比我的師傅更通達，因我思想你的法度。我比年老的更明白，因我守了你的訓詞。

「你們看見先知但以理所說的『那行毀壞可憎的』站在聖地（讀這經的人須要會意）。

就是耶路撒冷和猶大的城邑，並耶路撒冷的君王與首領，使這城邑荒涼，令人驚駭、嗤笑、咒詛，正如今日一樣。

那時，我必使猶大城邑中和耶路撒冷街上，歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音，都止息了，因為地必成為荒場。」

你的聖邑變為曠野。錫安變為曠野；耶路撒冷成為荒場。

你要以宣讀、勸勉、教導為念，直等到我來。

你的法度是我所喜樂的，是我的謀士。

我就說：「主啊，這到幾時為止呢？」他說：直到城邑荒涼，無人居住，房屋空閒無人，地土極其荒涼。並且耶和華將人遷到遠方，在這境內撇下的地土很多。

「你們看見那行毀壞可憎的，站在不當站的地方（讀這經的人須要會意）。那時，在猶太的，應當逃到山上；

列國都必服事他和他的兒孫，直到他本國遭報的日期來到。那時，多國和大君王要使他作他們的奴僕。

求你舉步去看那日久荒涼之地，仇敵在聖所中所行的一切惡事。你的敵人在你會中吼叫；他們豎了自己的旗為記號。他們好像人揚起斧子，砍伐林中的樹。聖所中一切雕刻的，他們現在用斧子錘子打壞了。他們用火焚燒你的聖所，褻瀆你名的居所，拆毀到地。
