in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

波斯王塞鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验祂借耶利米所说的话，就感动波斯王塞鲁士，使他下诏通告全国：

那位宣读这预言的人和那些听见并遵守其中内容的人有福了，因为日期近了。

这使我们更加确信先知的预言。你们要留意这些预言，把这些预言看作照耀在黑暗中的明灯，一直到天破晓、晨星在你们心中升起。你们首先该知道：圣经上的一切预言都不可随人的私意解释，因为预言绝非出于人的意思，都是人受了圣灵的感动，讲出上帝的信息。

有关这救恩，那些预言恩典要临到你们的众先知早已详细寻求查考了。基督的灵曾在他们心中指示他们，预言基督要受苦，然后得荣耀。他们便详细查考这些事会在什么时候、什么情况下发生。他们得到启示，知道他们传讲这些事不是为了自己，而是为了你们。现在，那些靠着从天上差来的圣灵向你们传福音的人，已经将这些事传给你们了。连天使也想把这些事看个明白。

并且你从小就熟悉圣经。圣经能给你智慧，使你借着信基督耶稣得到拯救。圣经全部是上帝启示的，有益于教导、督责、使人归正、培养人行义，使属上帝的人得到充分的装备，去行各种善事。

所以，因你们的缘故，锡安必像田地被耕犁，耶路撒冷必沦为废墟，圣殿山必成为荒林之冈。

上帝啊，外族人侵占你的产业，玷污你的圣殿，使耶路撒冷沦为废墟。他们把你仆人的尸体喂飞鸟，把你忠心子民的尸体给野兽吃，

我但以理看见这异象，正想明白它的意思，忽然有一个外貌像人的站在我面前。我听见有人声从乌莱河两岸之间呼喊：“加百列啊，要让此人明白这异象。”

“犹大王希西迦执政期间，摩利沙人弥迦对犹大众人预言说，“‘万军之耶和华说锡安必被夷为平地，耶路撒冷必沦为废墟，圣殿山要成为一片荒林。’

从前人烟稠密的城，现在何其荒凉！从前扬威万邦的强国，现在竟像寡妇一样。从前在诸省做公主的，现在却沦为奴婢。

毁坏的城一片荒凉，家家户户大门紧闭，无人能进。人们因无酒而在街上喊叫；一切欢乐变作哀愁，地上喜乐不复存在。城里一片荒凉，城门一片瓦砾。

我必使这殿像示罗一样被毁，使耶路撒冷被万国咒诅。”’”

太监问腓利：“请问先知是在说谁？在说他自己还是在说别人？”

我比我的老师更有洞见，因为我思想你的法度。我比长者更明智，因为我遵守你的法则。

“当你们看见但以理先知所说的‘那带来毁灭的可憎之物’站立在圣地的时候（读者须会意），

我给耶路撒冷和犹大的城邑，以及犹大的君王和官员喝这杯烈怒，使他们的城邑沦为废墟，令人惊惧，被嘲笑和咒诅，正如今日一样。

我要使犹大各城和耶路撒冷街上的欢乐声、新郎和新娘的欢笑声全部消失，因为大地必荒凉。”

你的众圣城已沦为荒场，甚至锡安已沦为荒场，耶路撒冷已沦为废墟。

在我来之前，你要专心宣读圣经，勉励会众，教导真理。

你的法度是我的喜乐，是我的谋士。

我说：“主啊，这要到什么时候呢？”祂说：“直到城邑荒凉，无人居住，房屋空置，土地荒废的时候。那时，我必把他们赶到远方，他们的土地必荒芜。

“当你们看见‘那带来毁灭的可憎之物’站在不当站的地方时（读者须会意），住在犹太地区的人要逃到山上去；

各国都要臣服于他和他的子孙，直到他的国家灭亡。那时，许多国家和强大的君王必奴役他。

求你前去观看那久已荒凉之地，看看敌人对圣所的破坏。他们在你圣所中高声叫嚷，竖立起自己的旗帜。他们大肆毁坏，好像人抡起斧头砍伐树林。他们用斧头、锤子把雕刻的墙板都捣毁了。他们纵火焚烧你的圣所，把它夷为平地，亵渎了你的居所。
