王遂命人以但以理攜至、投之獅穴、告但以理曰、爾所恆事之天主、必必或作願其救爾、

So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel,“ May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

耶和華拯救義人，患難時作他們的庇護所。耶和華幫助他們，拯救他們脫離惡人，因為他們投靠祂。

六次遭難，祂都救你；第七次，災禍也傷不到你。

耶和華說：「因為他愛我，我必拯救他；因為他信靠我的名，我必保護他。他求告我，我就答應他；他遭遇患難，我必與他同在。我必拯救他，賜他尊貴的地位。我必賜他長壽，並讓他看見我的拯救之恩。」

你穿越洪濤，我必與你同在；你渡過江河，必不會被水淹沒；你在火中走過，必不會被燒傷，火焰不會燒到你身上。

尼布甲尼撒說：「沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的上帝當受稱頌！祂差遣天使拯救那些信靠祂的僕人。他們無視王命，寧肯死也不供奉、祭拜其他神明。

今天我雖然是耶和華所膏立的王，但仍勢單力薄，無法對付洗魯雅的兩個兒子，願耶和華報應他們的惡行。」

王啊，我們若真被扔進烈焰熊熊的火窯，我們所事奉的上帝必能救我們脫離火窯，祂必從你手中救我們。

到了坑邊，淒聲呼喊但以理：「永活上帝的僕人但以理啊，你忠心事奉的上帝有沒有救你脫離獅子的口？」

投靠耶和華勝過倚靠人。投靠耶和華勝過倚靠權貴。

懼怕人的必自陷網羅，信靠耶和華的必安穩。

如果我做錯了，犯了該死的罪，我決不逃避！但他們對我的指控毫無根據，誰也不能把我交給他們。我要向凱撒上訴！」

現在你們準備好，一聽見角、笛、弦琴、豎琴、瑟、笙等各種樂器的聲音，就要叩拜我造的像。不然，必立刻將你們扔進烈焰熊熊的火窯。那時什麼神明能從我手中救你們呢？」

過了兩年，波求·非斯都接任總督，腓利斯為了討好猶太人，仍然把保羅留在監裡。

彼拉多問：「為什麼？祂犯了什麼罪？」他們卻更大聲地喊叫：「把祂釘在十字架上！」彼拉多見再說也無濟於事，反而會引起騷亂，於是拿了一盆水來，在眾人面前洗手，說：「流這義人的血，罪不在我，你們自己負責。」眾人都說：「流祂血的責任由我們和我們的子孫承擔！」於是，彼拉多為他們釋放了巴拉巴，下令將耶穌鞭打後，帶出去釘十字架。

西底迦王說：「你們可以隨意處置他，我不會阻止你們。」

她馬上回去對王說：「願王立刻把施洗者約翰的頭放在盤子裡送給我。」王聽了這個請求，感到十分為難，但因為在賓客面前起了誓言，就不好拒絕。他立刻命令衛兵進監牢砍了約翰的頭，放在盤子裡送給這女子，她又轉送給她母親。

非斯都為了討好猶太人，就對保羅說：「你是否願意回耶路撒冷接受我的審訊？」

掌權者不是叫行善的懼怕，而是叫作惡的懼怕。你想不怕掌權的嗎？就要行得正，這樣你會得到稱讚。

她受了母親的指使，說：「請把施洗者約翰的頭放在盤子裡送給我。」希律感到為難，但既然在眾賓客面前起了誓，只好下令給她。他派人到監裡砍了約翰的頭，

彼拉多問：「為什麼？祂犯了什麼罪？」他們卻更大聲地喊：「把祂釘在十字架上！」為了取悅眾人，彼拉多釋放了巴拉巴，命人將耶穌鞭打後帶出去釘十字架。

所有總長、行政官、總督、謀士和省長都認為王應該下一道禁令，三十天內，任何人不得向王以外的神明或人禱告，違者必被扔進獅子坑。

從那時起，彼拉多想要釋放耶穌，可是猶太人卻一直喊叫：「如果你釋放這個人，你就不是凱撒的忠臣。凡自以為王的，就是背叛凱撒。」彼拉多聽了這話，就帶著耶穌來到一個地方，名叫「鋪石地」，那地方希伯來話叫厄巴大。彼拉多在那裡開庭審判祂。那天正是逾越節的預備日，大約在中午十二時，彼拉多對猶太人說：「看啊！你們的王。」眾人喊道：「除掉祂！除掉祂！把祂釘在十字架上！」彼拉多說：「我可以把你們的王釘在十字架上嗎？」祭司長答道：「除了凱撒，我們沒有別的王！」於是，彼拉多將耶穌交給他們去釘十字架，他們就把耶穌帶走了。

至於我，我已落在你們手中，你們認為怎樣好就怎樣待我吧！

因為昨天晚上，我所歸屬、所事奉的上帝差遣天使站在我身旁，對我說，『保羅，不用怕，你一定會站在凱撒面前，上帝也會保全所有和你同船的人。』
