王吩咐人將術士、巫師、行邪術的和迦勒底人召來，要他們把王的夢告訴王；他們就來，站在王面前。

有人對你們說：「當求問招魂的與行巫術的，他們唧唧喳喳，念念有詞。」然而，百姓不當求問自己的神嗎？豈可為活人求問死人呢？

儘管使用從幼年就施行的魔符和眾多的邪術吧！或許有些幫助，或許可以致勝。你籌劃太多，以致疲倦。讓那些觀天象，看星宿，在初一說預言的都起來，救你脫離所要臨到你的事！看哪，他們要像碎稭被火焚燒，無法救自己脫離火焰的魔掌；沒有炭火可以取暖，你也不能坐在火旁。

這細弱的穗子吞了那七個又肥大又飽滿的穗子。法老醒了，看哪，是個夢。到了早晨，法老心裏不安，就派人把埃及所有的術士和智慧人都召來。法老把所做的夢告訴他們，但是沒有人能為法老解夢。
