王因這事生氣，大大震怒，吩咐滅絕巴比倫所有的智慧人。

有一個人來稟報說：「你們押在監裏的人，現在站在聖殿裏教導百姓。」於是守殿官和差役去帶使徒來，並沒有用暴力，因為怕百姓用石頭打他們。他們把使徒帶來了，就叫他們站在議會前。大祭司問他們，

但你們自己要謹慎；因為有人要把你們交給議會，並且你們在會堂裏要受鞭打，又為我的緣故站在統治者和君王面前，對他們作見證。

他們怒氣填胸，彼此商議怎樣對付耶穌。

過了幾天，腓力斯和他夫人猶太女子土西拉一同來到，就叫保羅來，聽他講論信基督耶穌的事。

掃羅向約拿單怒氣大發，對他說：「你這頑梗悖逆之婦人所生的，我怎麼會不知道你選擇耶西的兒子，自取羞辱，也使你母親露體蒙羞呢？只要耶西的兒子還活在世上一天，你和你的國必保不住。現在你要派人去，把他帶到我這裏來，因為他是該死的。」約拿單回答父親掃羅說：「他為甚麼該死呢？他做了甚麼呢？」掃羅向約拿單擲槍要刺他，約拿單就知道他父親決意要殺死大衛。

卻看不中該隱和他的供物。該隱就非常生氣，沉下臉來。

但這一切的事以前，有人要下手拿你們，迫害你們，把你們交給會堂，並且關在監裏，又為我名的緣故拉你們到君王和統治者面前。

好生氣的人挑起爭端，暴怒的人多多犯錯。

哈曼見末底改不跪不拜，就非常憤怒。有人把末底改的宗族告訴哈曼。哈曼看下手只害末底改一人是小事，還圖謀要滅絕亞哈隨魯王全國所有的猶太人，就是末底改的宗族。

石頭沉，沙土重，愚妄人的惱怒比這兩樣更沉重。

你們要為我的緣故被送到統治者和君王面前，對他們和外邦人作見證。

寧可遇見失喪小熊的母熊，也不願遇見正行愚昧的愚昧人。
