“ As I was contemplating the horns, another horn– a small one– came up between them, and three of the former horns were torn out by the roots to make room for it. This horn had eyes resembling human eyes and a mouth speaking arrogant things.

There are times, Jeremiah, when I threaten to uproot, tear down, and destroy a nation or kingdom.

Surely people go through life as mere ghosts. Surely they accumulate worthless wealth without knowing who will eventually haul it away.”

So I loathed all the fruit of my effort, for which I worked so hard on earth, because I must leave it behind in the hands of my successor.Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will be master over all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so wisely on earth! This also is futile!

Now when Jesus realized what they were thinking, he said to them,“ Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed, and no town or house divided against itself will stand.

The LORD told Jeremiah,“ Tell Baruch,‘ The LORD says,“ I am about to tear down what I have built and to uproot what I have planted. I will do this throughout the whole earth.

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

that the elation of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.Even though his stature reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,he will perish forever, like his own excrement; those who used to see him will say,‘ Where is he?’

I have seen ruthless evil men growing in influence, like a green tree grows in its native soil.But then one passes by, and suddenly they have disappeared! I looked for them, but they could not be found.

“ After these things, as I was watching, another beast like a leopard appeared, with four bird- like wings on its back. This beast had four heads, and ruling authority was given to it.

The whole valley where dead bodies and sacrificial ashes are thrown and all the terraced fields out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far north as the Horse Gate will be included within this city that is sacred to the LORD. The city will never again be torn down or destroyed.”

A man who is all alone with no companion, he has no children nor siblings; yet there is no end to all his toil, and he is never satisfied with riches. He laments,“ For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is futile and a burdensome task!

They trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches.Certainly a man cannot rescue his brother; he cannot pay God an adequate ransom price( the ransom price for a human life is too high, and people go to their final destiny),so that he might continue to live forever and not experience death.Surely one sees that even wise people die; fools and spiritually insensitive people all pass away and leave their wealth to others.Their grave becomes their permanent residence, their eternal dwelling place. They name their lands after themselves,but, despite their wealth, people do not last, they are like animals that perish.

Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, and understood the destiny of the wicked.Surely you put them in slippery places; you bring them down to ruin.How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete!They are like a dream after one wakes up. O Lord, when you awake you will despise them.
