For those who turn justice into wormwood, And throw righteousness to the earth.”

你们这使公平变为茵陈、将公义丢弃于地的，

你们这些使正义变为苦艾、将公义丢弃在地的人啊，

他们使公正变为苦堇，把公义弃于地上。

你們這使公平變為茵蔯、將公義丟棄於地的，

你們這使公平變為茵蔯，將公義丟棄於地的人哪！

你們這使公平變為茵蔯，將公義丟棄於地的人哪！

你們這些使正義變為苦艾、將公義丟棄在地的人啊，

他們使公正變為苦堇，把公義棄於地上。

那些使公平變為苦堇，將公義摔落於地的，

爾曹變公平為茵蔯、委義於地、

爾不秉公、不行義、反使人茹荼飲酖、

爾曹判斷、不秉公義、使人受屈苦、若食茵蔯、爾曹拋棄公義於地、

There are those who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground.

There are people among you who turn what is fair into something bitter. They throw down to the ground what is right.

O you who turn justice to wormwood and cast down righteousness to the earth!

You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the oppressed. You treat the righteous like dirt.

Those who turn justice into wormwood also throw righteousness to the ground.

You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!”

Ye who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,

Those who turn justice into wormwood throw righteousness to the ground.

Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,

The Israelites turn justice into bitterness; they throw what is fair and right to the ground.

You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:

Do horses run on rocks? Or does one plow them with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into poison, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

They speak mere words, With worthless oaths they make covenants; And judgment sprouts like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.

And those who have turned back from following the Lord, And those who have not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him.”

Again, when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and commits sin, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require from your hand.

When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, then he shall die in it.

Are You not from time everlasting, Lord, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. You, Lord, have appointed them to deliver judgment; And You, O Rock, have destined them to punish.Your eyes are too pure to look at evil, And You cannot look at harm favorably. Why do You look favorably At those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they?Why have You made people like the fish of the sea, Like crawling things that have no ruler over them?

“ But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness, commits injustice and does according to all the abominations that the wicked person does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die.

Therefore because you impose heavy rent on the poor And take a tribute of grain from them, Though you have built houses of cut stone, Yet you will not live in them; You have planted beautiful vineyards, yet you will not drink their wine.For I know your offenses are many and your sins are great, You who are hostile to the righteous and accept bribes, And turn away the poor from justice at the gate.

And you, son of man, say to your fellow citizens,‘ The righteousness of a righteous one will not save him on the day of his offense, and as for the wickedness of a wicked one, he will not stumble because of it on the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous one will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.’When I say to the righteous that he will certainly live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he commits injustice, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but for that same injustice of his which he has committed he will die.

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood.

Your rulers are rebels And companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe And chases after gifts. They do not obtain justice for the orphan, Nor does the widow’s case come before them.

But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, The Lord will lead them away with those who practice injustice. Peace be upon Israel.

Offending and denying the Lord, And turning away from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering lying words from the heart.Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter.

For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes And to those who constantly record harmful decisions,
