約西亞還在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬，遠至拿弗他利的各城邑及其周圍的荒廢之地做了同樣的事情。他拆毀祭壇和亞舍拉神像，把偶像磨成粉末，砍掉以色列境內所有的香壇，然後回到耶路撒冷。

不要去伯特利求問，不要進入吉甲，也不要前往別示巴，因為吉甲人必被擄去，伯特利也必化為烏有。」你們要尋求耶和華，才能存活。否則，祂要在約瑟家如烈火爆發，吞噬伯特利，無人能撲滅。

你現在回去帶領這些百姓，往我指示你的地方去，我的天使必在你前面引路。只是到我懲罰的日子，我必因他們的罪懲罰他們。」

當一切都辦妥後，所有在場的以色列人就前往猶大各城邑，打碎神柱，砍倒亞舍拉神像，又拆毀猶大、便雅憫、以法蓮、瑪拿西境內所有的邱壇和祭壇，然後各自返回自己的城邑和家園。

「所以，我耶和華要使撒瑪利亞淪為荒野的廢墟，成為種葡萄的地方。我要把她的石頭拋進山谷，直到露出她的根基。她所有的神像都要被打碎，她所得的淫資都要化為灰燼；我要毀滅她的一切偶像。她以淫資得來的偶像，也要被用作妓女的淫資。」

上帝的僕人奉耶和華的命令向祭壇喊道：「祭壇啊，祭壇啊，耶和華說，必有一子在大衛家出生，他名叫約西亞。他要在你上面殺死這些獻祭的祭司，在你上面焚燒人的骨頭。」當日，他又說：「耶和華說要給你們一個徵兆，這壇必破裂，壇上的灰必撒出來。」耶羅波安王聽了他的話，就伸手指著他說：「給我拿住他！」但王伸出來的手僵住了，不能收回。這時，祭壇破裂了，壇上的灰也撒了出來，應驗了上帝的僕人奉耶和華之命所說的徵兆。

我看見主站在祭壇旁，祂說：「要擊打柱頂，使殿的根基震動；要打碎柱頂，使殿宇坍塌壓死眾人。僥倖生還的，我要用刀劍殺掉，沒有一個能逃脫，沒有一個能倖免。
